Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Chadwick.
Hi Destiny , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was raised by a hard working single mother who didn’t have time to do my hair . I started experimenting with my own hair from a very young age and it was always wild styles I’d get bullied for . I had my daughter as a teen and promise I’d learn to do her hair. I always had admired the skill of cutting and styling . I had my sons and I wanted to learn more. I wanted to create that bond with them. Bartending and serving customers and friends asked me to do their hair and make up . My passion grew I knew I had to get my education get licensed and make something out of this burning desire to help others look and feel them best selves. I went to cosmetology school in El Paso Texas and barber school here in Fort Worth . Doing my own hair brought me confidence and I wanted to pass that on to others . Share my passion and skills with others while building confidence not just outwardly but from within . I put a lot of care and love into what I do. I treat the people in my chair how I would want to be treated. Go above and beyond . I wanted to create a space where you can be comfortable enough to be yourself. I started Studio 29:11 in 2024. Going on my second year of business . I hope to continue to grow and welcome people into my chair !
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely had not been easy ride , I moved here from El Paso , Texas and started from scratch. Building clientele and making new connections was scary at first . Of course being a mother and juggling mom duties while pursing my dreams has had its challenges but with God it’s all been made possible!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a female barber . I specialize in fades and head shaves. I love a good scalp educating my clients on scalp health for healthier skin and hair ! I have been a hair model for shows and brands so I’ve had every style of hair ! Flat tops , tapers , designs and color . I know what men go through in and behind the chair. I can educate from a professional standpoint as well as a clients point view and preference. I am most proud of how much I’ve grown and the wonderful relationships I’ve built in this industry ! I feel what set me apart from my wild hair experiences is my customer service . I love people. Making people feel at home. Going above and beyond continuously wanting to grow learn and better my craft and skills.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
God first and without him I wouldn’t even be here literally ! I was sick had over 13 surgeries. Didn’t think I’d be here today so to be living out my dream and I’d say no matter what your facing today tomorrow can always be different ! Don’t give up !
