Today we’d like to introduce you to Drs. Phillip and Janice Porter.
Hi Drs. Porter, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
In 2016, Dr. Phillip Porter and Dr. Janice Porter wrote and published their second book “The Power In A Vision Driven Family” along with their workbook “The Power In A Vision Driven Family Workbook” which became the foundation of their company. Their books were so successful they begin teaching family leadership and success workshops throughout the United States. Phillip and Janice are visionaries, passionate family wealth educators, and co-founders of a privately held African American family-owned business Generations Empowerment Enterprises, LLC. In 2017, Generations Empowerment Enterprises, LLC, moved its headquarters from Minnesota to McKinney, Texas.
In 2021 during the Covid-19 Pandemic, they launched the Global Family Success Institute. Global Family Success Institute is a division of Generations Empowerment Enterprises, LLC. (GEE). GEE is a privately held family-owned business that was founded in 2008 as Generations United, LLC in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 2008, Dr. Phillip Porter, Dr. Janice Porter, and Ron Porter, MBA founded Generations Empowerment Enterprises, LLC. Under the Global Family Success Institute, they developed the following curriculum:

– Strategies For Marriage and Relationship Success
– The Five Pillars of Financial Literacy Success
– Spiritual Gifts For Family Leadership Success
– Four Steps To Successful Partnerships & Collaborations
Beginning of 2023, these courses and more will be available online at West Coast Bible College & Seminary in Texas. Upon completion of these courses, students can earn college credits for many of their courses.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like many businesses, one of the major struggles was surviving, adapting, and growing through the pandemic. We were forced to transition from in-person family generational wealth-building workshops and conferences to online webinars. We did not have any experience conducting interactive webinars prior to the pandemic. Additionally, marketing to promote webinars was a challenge. We learned ways to market and advertise our webinars and were successful because national and international students participated in our webinars.

• Dr. Porter served as the Chair of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Finance Ministry at Greater Friendship M.B. Church for 15 years.
• Has 13 years of nonprofit experience as a loan officer, business advisor, and business trainer with the Neighborhood Development Center a nonprofit organization in St. Paul, MN. He has successfully advised, trained and business lending services to over 250 businesses representing many industries.
• Has over 15 years of corporate leadership experience serving in numerous roles; Quality Services Director/Manager and member of the Operating Committee for Diamond Products Company, Assistant Quality Manager, Purchasing Agent, Distribution Supervisor, and Quality Services Supervisor with Gillette Company. He successfully managed a $3.5 million budget that represented quality departments at three facilities that were in Minnesota, Mississippi, and Florida.
Dr. Janice Porter
• Dr. Janice Porter worked in the field of Education for over thirty years serving in numerous roles; as a principal, director, science specialist, and teacher in both traditional and non-traditional K-12 schools.
• Dr. Porter served in her church as Director of the Christian Education Ministry, a Deaconess, a Sunday School teacher, and an Executive Board member.
• Dr. Janice Porter is the Co-Founder of Friendship Academy of the Arts K-6 Charter School, Minneapolis, MN, which was honored as a National Blue-Ribbon School in 2016.
