Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Sellers.
Hi Elizabeth, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am the co-owner of Mop To It Cleaning Co. My business partner, Jeanette Randall, and I actually met in 2020 while she was a breeder and owner of Randall’s Golden Retrievers. I had lost a puppy due to congenital renal dysplasia (his kidneys were malformed since birth) and it was absolutely heartbreaking. After we lost him, I began to do a lot of research to educated myself about responsible breeding and why that makes such a difference in the health of a puppy. Growing up, you just got a puppy from anywhere, but as most things these days – it’s just not the same as it used to be.
While on my journey to find a responsible breeder, I had accumulated about 3 pages of questions and she spent hours with me on the phone answering ALL my questions and educating me even further. We decided to adopt our first puppy, Peaches, through her, and then a couple years later our second, Mango. Jeanette was so wonderful through the entire process, and whenever I had questions about the pups as they were growing up, especially training questions – she would come over and give the best advice. She did this so much with all of her clients, that we all ended up telling her “you really should do this professionally”. So she took a couple of courses, got certified, and became a dog trainer. In 2022 she launched Good Pup Club. I built her website, and helped with marketing – but once she met a potential client, she just sold herself and now, almost 4yrs later, her business is thriving.
Now I know this might sound like I forgot what business I’m telling you about – but I promise it haven’t lol. Hang in there – the best is yet to come!
Part of what Good Pup Club employees do when they sit at someone’s house, is they are to “leave it cleaner than they found it”. Meaning, they wash the bedding they slept in, mop the floors, wipe down anything they touched, etc. Jeanette says “no one wants come home from a vacation and have to clean”. Now some of this is because she just has high standards for her business, but some of it is also because when she was still raising 6kids, she worked for a cleaning company. Anyways, last year especially, she was getting so much feedback from clients saying “goodness! you clean better than my housekeeper does!”
I come from a bit of a different background, I grew up in a very military & medical household – and I naturally gravitated towards medical when I began adulting. I should also note I am very ADHD, and do absolutely hyper-focus – this will become relevant momentarily.
So in August of last year, I was having my tile re-done in my house and had to move out completely, then move back in – not what I consider a good time. While bored out of my mind mid-displacement, I started doing some research on cleaning companies, marking research, running some numbers, etc. I wanted to see if it was viable as I had long since realized I wanted to leave healthcare. I called Jeanette and told her what I was doing, and asked her what she thought about it, and if she’d want to do it with me and she said “sure”. Note to the public – when telling a person with ADHD “sure” you might want to make sure how “sure” you are. lol
Anyways, I was bored out of my mind, and I had also wanted to play around with Squarespace – so I build a website moptoit.com and Jeanette and I officially launch on 10.1.25. Now the goal was that I would remain employed and we would gradually grow Mop To It, but in November when I called her crying on my lunch break and said “how sure are you we can do this?” we came up with a plan and for the sake of being completely cheesy – we “mopped to it”. I turned in my notice and 3 weeks later we dove in.
It’s a rare thing, to find someone so willing to take a leap with you – but here we are, 3 mo in and absolutely loving it! With her background in cleaning, and my background in healthcare – while our business is new, we are not new to cleaning. Jeanette brings expertise and her absolutely contagious personality, and I being the social media management and more tech side of things – and of course we both bring our mops. 😉
If you’d like a little background on the 2 of us as people:
Jeanette is about 20yrs older than me and absolutely runs circles around me lol – but I’m getting faster! She’s the baby of 10 kids, and raised 6 – 5 of them are boys. She’s a saint, idk how she. does/did it. She was born and raised in Argyle, TX, she has had MANY jobs, including being a bus driver, a cleaning lady, and a nurse! Currently she is the owner of 2 companies: Good Pup Club & Mop To It Cleaning Co.
I was born overseas on a Naval base (lots of military & medical in my family), then moved around a lot growing up predominantly in the south – I’m very southern. I was pre-med in college, and ended up spending about 16yrs in admin in healthcare, with the last 10 of those being in Texas at a pediatric hospital in behavioral health. I don’t have any children yet, but I do have 2 beautiful fur babies Peaches & Mango.
Jeanette and I very much attribute any success to God, our family & friends aka our support systems, and our incredible clients.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’re still in our infancy as a business, and it can be a very saturated market as far as cleaning companies goes, which definitely presents some challenges. Word-of-mouth, and networking is very crucial in this business.
We have had several learning opportunities as every newer business does, but we count everything as a chance to grown and improve and just keep pushing forward.
Tomorrow is always a new day. 🙂
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a cleaning business that offers commercial and residential cleaning services including: new builds/ post-construction cleans, move in/out cleans, routing/recurring cleans, deep cleans, organizational services, and mother’s helper services, and more!.
On the residential side of things, we are known for our more custom services where it’s a combination of cleaning, mother’s helper, and organization. We find a lot of families need more than traditional cleaning services offer, and being able to customize their experience not only leads to happy clients, but also gives back time to them and their families.
Commercially, we are known for being excellent communicators, on time, and taking the initiative. We also have a whole service focus and have wonderful businesses we partner with that can do jobs outside of our scope of practice – this is beneficial to commercial clients because we take the pressure off of them having to find their own subcontractors. We like being the whole package.
As far as what sets us apart – it’s the way we do business. We believe in doing things right, because it’s right to do. We don’t gouge in prices; we also know our worth. We stand behind what we do, and follow through with our clients – if we say we’re going to do a thing, we do it. We are hard workers and understand that consistency is key. Every clean, every time – needs to be the best!
Another thing that sets us apart, we have a passion for those who are newly diagnosed with cancer. Jeanette, being a breast cancer survivor, and having taken care of her dad while he had terminal cancer. and with my mom having terminal cancer – we know all too well how hard that can be on families. We offer 50% off an initial clean with a routine cleaning purchase for all of those who are newly diagnosed with cancer.
We also offer 10% off for: all military both active duty and veterans, all first responders, anyone 62+, and the widows of military and first reconsiders – on all residential services.
We want to help those who are struggling, we want to honor those who sacrificed everything for our freedom, and give back to those who are wise and paved the way for us.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I honestly believe we could go on and on trying to answer this question – there’s been so many influential people in our lives that have led us to where we are. So I think it’s best to simply say – God, family, friends – in that order.
God deserves all the credit for our success, and our family members and friends have been incredible support systems every step of the way.
“It takes a village” isn’t just about raising children – community matters and we couldn’t be more grateful for ours.

In the “the mess behind the scenes” photo that was taken at MaxStrength Fitness in Flower Mound – the owner is amazing, the gym is beautiful, and we absolutely adore them as clients! We just wanted you to see what it’s like when we’re in the middle of the cleaning.
