Hi Evan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello! My name is Evan Carpenter and I am a Portrait and Wedding Photographer based in North Texas.
My start in photography originates from my deep passion for the outdoors. I absolutely love backpacking & hiking and wanted to capture the beauty I see in the wilderness. After scraping together enough money while in college, I bought my first camera. I dove headfirst into learning the art, often staying up overnight, obsessed with this newfound passion.
I had several friends that took notice of my growing photography skills and started asking if I would be interested in portrait & graduation sessions. I was able to tap into a larger senior photography market at Texas Tech, eventually leading to my first opportunity in wedding photography.
My first wedding couple could not have been more amazing. They were laid-back and trusted me to create beautiful images while giving me the space and freedom to try new things. Their beautiful West Texas Canyon wedding combined my new passion for people with my love for photographing the outdoors.
Since then, I have become a full-time Portrait & Wedding Photographer, and have had the opportunity to work with countless couples capturing some of their most special moments. My passion for photography continues to grow and I am incredibly excited to work with many more DFW couples in the future!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While I have been incredibly blessed with my successes, it has not always been a smooth road. As a self-proclaimed introvert, I was terrified to enter the Wedding industry. In the beginning stages of my business, I dealt with a lot of self-doubt and extreme anxieties, specifically revolving around receptions and large groups of people.
I strive to be someone who is comfortable being uncomfortable, although that isn’t always easy. I pushed forward and started to turn some of my anxieties into strengths. Today my brand is built around who I am, and I have developed a passion for people and deeply value the connections I make in my work.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a Wedding Photographer in the DFW area, I get a backstage pass to my couple’s most special moments. Telling my couple’s stories in an artistic and creative way, while capturing each special detail of their day is what I’ve built my brand around. I love incorporating my passion for natural landscapes into each of my couple’s portraits and have been able to create beautiful images with couples across the nation.

I love supporting and walking alongside my wedding couples to create an experience that enhances each moment of your day. Planning a wedding is stressful enough as it is for many of my couples, so I take pride in creating a seamless photography experience that allows my couples to relax and really enjoy their wedding day.
What were you like growing up?
As a child, I was very inquisitive and adventurous. I was very into how things worked, often asking my father far more questions than he was interested in answering (ha!) I was definitely rather shy and didn’t come “out of my shell” until later in high school.
In high school & college, I became obsessed with long-distance hiking and backpacking and started traveling farther and farther west to venture into the mountains. My love for photography sprouted from this passion for the outdoors and became the driving force for more and more of my trips. Today my wife, Kassidy, and I love traveling to new parts of the country with our two puppies, Charlie & Gracie!
