Conversations with Evelyne Gomez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyne Gomez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Throughout my childhood, I never really had a place to call home. We moved often, never establishing any connections within the neighborhoods or communities we stayed in. My mom couldn’t afford to give us the stability and comfort that a permanent home provides so I never truly understood what I was missing out on. In the beginning of 2012, we were referred to a program by Habitat for Humanity to apply for the possibility of having a home built. We were fortunate enough to be selected and began the long journey of finally becoming homeowners. The program required sweat equity hours which meant my mom and I got up every Saturday morning and helped build our home. One of my fondest memories during this time was when the volunteers and the coordinators wrote prayers and words of encouragement on the wooden framing of our home. On closing day, the organization delivered more than a pair of keys. They gave my family comfort, security, and a permanent place to call home.

My own experience fueled my passion for helping families feel the same way my family did. Almost 10 years later I found myself on the Rogers Healy website applying for their License Launch program. Within a few months, I was finally capable of fulfilling my dream. To this day, my purpose grows as I meet wonderful people who are looking for a place to call home.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The beginning was pretty difficult for me. I worked full-time in the medical field so I was accustomed to the precise schedules and rules. I often struggled with creating and sticking to, my own schedule. Another struggle is how hard it is to meet people and create a connection during a pandemic! In short, I am still pushing forward every day as a newer agent to build a successful business.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Everyone knows the market is pretty hectic right now. My proudest moments are helping families get to the closing table with money back in their pockets! I am also proud of the fact that I am my own business. Whether it’s an email, a phone call, or a text you will always get me.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I believe the real estate industry is going to stay steady for the next several years. There is an abundance of opportunities, both in the residential and commercial side.
