Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgette Gordon.
Hi Georgette, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Like many people, when the pandemic started, I found myself looking at not only things to stay busy while quarantined but also a residual source of income as many people’s jobs were in limbo I let my creative juices flow. It started as a hobby preparing custom items for my daughter’s birthday party, and then as more requests came for the products I had, I saw it as a great opportunity to grow into a real brand.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge has been time management. Now that things are returning to normal and I’m back in the office at my full time job as a procurement analyst more consistently, training to perfect my love for eyebrows and becoming a successful permanent eyebrow makeup artist, all while trying to balance orders in between working, can be difficult. As well as having a very active 4 year old and nonchalant 18 year old who both demand a lot of attention.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The work that I do is quite simple. You request it and I make it! The custom business allows me to provide a one of a kind item for my customers who will definitely remember where they purchased from. I’m known for the quality of products I provide as well as fast turn around time. What sets me apart from other businesses like mine is I take pride in what I do! Although this has become a business for me, it’s not just about the money. I’m a single parent, and I know the struggle of wanting something made, but I feel over charged. I have been on the other side where I want something original, good quality and great price.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is family and stability. My siblings and I lost our mom a little over three years ago, and that has brought the family even closer than we already were. So spending time with them brings me calm and peace in my spirit. Knowing my family is ok and me creating this business to contribute to our stability also makes me happy. Also, seeing my customer’s faces or hearing their responses once they receive their products keeps me going.
