Today we’d like to introduce you to Ginger Curtis.
Hi Ginger, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
At Urbanology Designs, we’ve spent years helping clients create interiors that feel effortlessly elevated, warm, and approachable. We absolutely love being able to bring meaningful, soulful luxury to our interior design clients and we thought what if we could bring that same feeling and experience to people in a short term vacation rental?
We realized there was a gap in the market—and we decided to fill it. Bringing our signature approachable luxury to a short-term rental, we found the perfect canvas: a 100-year-old cottage in quaint Weatherford, TX, just 20 minutes outside Fort Worth. The cottage was full of charm but in need of love, care, and design vision.
We poured our hearts into curating every element. From artisan furniture pieces to plush linens and carefully selected kitchenware, no detail was too small. The result is a one-of-a-kind experience, where every corner tells a story, and every item has been thoughtfully considered to create a truly uncommon stay.
Urbanology Designs is an award-winning interior design firm, recognized internationally and honored with HGTV’s Designer of the Year Award. Known for our elevated yet approachable aesthetic, we love designing spaces that feel soulful and intentional—and now, with the Urbanology Cottage, we’ve created a space where guests can experience that same philosophy firsthand.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As you might expect with a home over 100 years old, there were certainly a few unexpected challenges…discovering what was possible within the space and what surprises awaited us once renovations began. Yet, alongside those hurdles came delightful, unexpected moments – like the gorgeous wood plank ceiling we chose to preserve in one of the bedrooms, adding a touch of timeless charm to the home.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m Ginger Curtis, Founder and CEO of Urbanology Designs, a nationally recognized interior design firm based in Dallas–Fort Worth. I specialize in creating what I like to call “warm” modern interiors—spaces that are refined yet relaxed, beautiful yet deeply human. What sets my work apart is that it’s never predictable or pretentious. Every project is a true original, crafted from the ground up around the client’s story, values, and way of life. I don’t believe in formulas or trends; I design interiors that are meaningful, enduring, and deeply personal.
I’m most proud of the way our designs resonate with people long after the project is finished, which is why the Urbanology Cottage was such a rewarding project, because stay after stay we get to hear how people are impacted by their incredible time spent there.
Our interior design clients don’t just want a pretty space—they want a home that reflects who they are, that feels timeless, confident, and full of soul. That ability to translate a person’s life and personality into a physical environment is what I think makes Urbanology Designs different from others in the industry.
Over the years, I’ve been honored to receive multiple national Designer of the Year awards, HGTV Overall Winner, and Luxe Red awards, and our work has been featured in publications like Architectural Digest, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and Veranda. Beyond design, I’m passionate about neuroaesthetics—the idea that intentional design can actually impact our emotional well-being—and I wrote Beauty by Design to help people create spaces that are as healing as they are beautiful.
At the heart of everything I do is a desire to create spaces that feel authentic, soulful, and enduring. That’s what drives me and what continues to inspire me every day.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
One of the most fun elements of the Urbanology Cottage is the narrative that unfolds from room to room. Each space reflects little pieces of my childhood and a personality all its own…you won’t want to miss it! The “Pippi Longstocking” room is full of whimsy, character, and strength. The Colonel Mustard Room hides secret Clue-inspired details throughout…can you find them all? I’ve had friends stay multiple times and they still haven’t! The Ms. Hosell Room is brimming with charm and personality, named after an imaginary character my sister and I created during childhood tea parties. Every room has a story, a character, and a warmth designed to bring rest, inspiration, and that irresistible feeling of not wanting to leave. Book your stay and trade the hustle and bustle of the city for the quaint charm of Weatherford- it’s the ultimate retreat.
