Conversations with Gloria Garnica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gloria Garnica.

Hi Gloria, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Gloria Garnica and I was born in Oxnard, California and raised in Dallas, Texas. I started my business in march of 2020.

I have been wanting to do your nails for a while and i kept watching you-tube videos like LongHairPrettyNails she was and still is one of my favorite Nail techs! I finally told my mom and she told me “oh Gloria your crazy” but, she finally took me and with my money my sister had gave to me for my birthday and my mom also helped me with the remaining i needed. The first nail supply I went to was Nail Supply Glamour. I asked for everything I needed and they helped me out so much with everything!
I went home and i got to practicing, it was super hard i’m not going to lie. It also took me so much time to get confidence so i can take in clients. We went into quarantine for a while after i had bought my stuff and once we got out of quarantine i started taking in clients and also started seeing so much progress.

My first ever client of shall I say victim was my mom. She was one of the very first people who let me practice on her so many times. Now she gets free nails for her whole life. I am so grateful for all the support i have from my family. Once i started to post a lot more on social media, i was receiving so many followings and thats when my page started blowing up.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It really has not been a smooth road at all. From having some challenges here and there to loosing important people in my life and wanting to give up doing nails from the hurt and pain I was going through!

When I was in my Senior year of high school my uncle got very sick and that devastated me so much. I dropped everything I was doing including nails and left school to go to California so I can say my goodbye to my uncle.
He passed away a few hours after we had gotten there. It was one of the most heartbreaking I was not just able to leave back to Dallas after that for a month after they had his funeral Once I came back I went back to school and it took me a few months to get back into my Grind again! School was so tough as well once i returned they told me i didn’t have enough time to finish the classes for me to graduate and i wasn’t able to walk the stage. I had to make it so i could walk I promised my uncle i would walk the stage! So i did it I stayed up late and finished what i had to do to graduate and i did it!

After i graduated i finally had the courage to get back into doing nails and to finally open up my bookings! But then another tragedy occurred i lost another one of my uncles. He ended up getting sick as well and it hurt as much as it hurt the first time. It did hit me bad as well because he fixed up his life to look for his family (us) and show us the better version of himself! I know God healed me in so many ways during all my challenges he helped me even when I lost my faith.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
