Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Zamora.
Hi Grace, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I began my modeling journey about a year and a half ago. A small local photographer asked to capture photos of me and I was like why not, this would be something new and different to do. At first, it was intended for fun, but gradually over time, I began to grow a passion for it. I began to take more photos with different local photographers and just went from there. At first, I was a bit shy in front of the camera now I’m learning to grow my modeling technique and enjoy it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In my experience, so far it has been a smooth road, the only struggles along the way were financials, dealing with my confidence, and dealing with my depression and anxiety. When entering the modeling industry, I received a lot of backlash whether that was from my friends, family, or just random people. Till this day my mom and family don’t know that I’m trying to become a model or that I am even modeling. Dealing with depression and anxiety is difficult because it’s overlooked and forgotten especially in the minority community. When I started to model, I started to compare myself to other models believing that I wasn’t pretty enough or skinny enough or my skin tone isn’t the correct color. There were times I wanted to give up and just say forget this and thought I’d never make it up there. I used to believe people like me and that look like me don’t model, they don’t even get a chance too. I believe this is just the beginning of my modeling journey and there is going to be some more bumps in the road, but that’s life. I just have to keep working hard and be persistent to be able to overcome those bumps. By having an open mind to anything throughout this modeling journey, I’m starting to grow as a person and a model.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Outside from modeling, I work as a regular Starbucks barista inside a local hospital to help pay for my schooling and bills. I’m a college student pursuing a major in Nursing. I’m most proud of that I’m a minority from Oak Cliff and I have the opportunity to model and go to school and juggle life along with that. A lot of people can’t do that or won’t even try.
