Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Tipton.
Hi Hannah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in a wonderful family and had what many would consider a safe, warm childhood. I’ve lived lots of places in my life, including Vancouver, Canada—where I was born & raised—California for high school, Florida for college, and back to Canada again where, in my early twenties, I married a man I thought I’d spend my life with, and he ended up being physically abusive. God rescued me from that marriage. I got out, and the life I dreamed of was beautifully restored just a few short years later when I married the man of my dreams. We have 2 beautiful children and now live in Fort Worth.
I have always been very “crunchy” and holistic-leaning before those words were popular. Growing up, we cooked at home, rarely had processed food, and were healthy as far as we knew to be. I have educated myself far more now and have been on a journey for the last 15 or so years, learning and growing in this area. My heart is to share my knowledge and help people on their journeys, free of shame. We don’t know what we don’t know, until we find out we didn’t know it!
But while nourishing our bodies is always important, I also am very passionate about nourishing our homes and, most of all, our hearts. This is why I created Rooted in Joy. It is so much more than just creating fun recipes and sharing health knowledge. I want to bring joy back into people’s homes where it’s been lost—back into the kitchen, where cooking feels overwhelming—back into staying home and enjoying it—and the joy of being present with the ones in front of us.
My “business” takes care of the practicals of cleaning out the junk, replacing it with cleaner ingredients, and helping people learn that cheap and easy doesn’t have to mean McDonald’s (no shade to the double cheeseburger). But I am mostly here to bring people back to a place where they can grow and gain the tools to nourish their homes, their families, and their own hearts back to health.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life certainly hasn’t always been smooth – between a failed first marriage, different types of loss and transition throughout my whole life – I have learned that there is no wholeness without there first being brokenness. To the degree that I have struggled, is the degree that I have also grown and been shaped into the woman I am.
It took me years to overcome fear of failure to launch this business and finally just share with the world everything I’m passionate about. This specific dream has been in the making for a long time and I’m excited to see where it goes!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a creative through and through – but the entirety of my professional career (until now) has been accounting. My specialties are very broad because while I am a critical thinker and extremely administrative in every way, I turn this part of my brain off when I am creating. This business is much more of my creative passion than being an accountant (haha) and I specialize in my knowledge of health and wellness. I have done extensive research and training to learn over the years and I would say this is what I’m most known for – and offer anyone who is around me. Plus maybe occasionally being asked to help people with their taxes..
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
my mom cooking and baking, family dinners.
