Today we’d like to introduce you to Ingrid Lawson.
Hi Ingrid, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Grace Built Me — The Faith-Filled Real Estate Journey of Ingrid Lawson
Some stories begin with triumph. Mine began with loss. Four years ago, I thought my life was on a predictable path—married, stable, and working in health care insurance. When the company I worked for suddenly closed, it felt like a push toward something new. I stepped into real estate, but I didn’t step in with full commitment at first. I didn’t have to. There was security. A second income. A safety net.
But when my marriage ended, the safety net disappeared… and so did the version of me who waited for life to happen.
“Divorce didn’t break me. It introduced me to a woman I didn’t know I could be.”
Real estate went from being something I could do to something I had to build. Something I had to understand.
Something I had to surrender fully to God. That was the beginning of my becoming. Rebuilding My Life & Career at the Same Time. Navigating real estate while navigating divorce is something you don’t fully understand until you’re living it.
You’re grieving and grinding.
Healing and hustling.
Crying and closing.
But in the middle of all of that, God became my anchor.
I no longer had the luxury of moving how I wanted. I had to allow Him to order my steps—professionally and personally.
“God became more than my peace… He became my business strategy.” I learned the real cost of this business.
I learned the importance of systems, lead generation, consistency, and stewardship. I learned that you cannot build a sustainable business on motivation alone. You need structure, intention, and alignment. And most importantly, I learned to pray differently:
“God, send me the clients You have assigned to me, not just the ones I want.”
And He did.
My Daughter Is My ‘Why’ — Even Now
My daughter is 23, grown, and building her own life (waiting to get into vet school). But even now, she is my deepest motivation. I want her to see my resilience—not because I had it all together, but because I refused to give up.
I want her to see a woman who rebuilt with God’s strength, who turned pain into purpose, who refused to let life’s hardest moments define her.
“I want my daughter to see that resilience is not about never falling—It’s about rising with grace every time you do.”
Every closed home, every opportunity, every step forward is a reminder that God can revive what life tried to break.
Faith Is the Foundation of Everything I Build. Today, I move differently. Not rushed. Not pressured. Not chasing anything outside of God’s timing. I’m walking, not running. Listening, not forcing. Trusting, not controlling.
My entire career is proof that God can turn endings into beginnings, fear into focus, and heartbreak into purpose.
And as Your DFW Home Girl, I’m not just helping families buy and sell homes— I’m guiding them with empathy, excellence, and intention, because I know what it feels like to rebuild a life and need someone standing with you.
“Real estate didn’t just change my income. It changed my identity. It revealed the woman I was always meant to become.”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all—and honestly, I’m grateful it wasn’t.
My journey in real estate has been anything but smooth. When I first started, I wasn’t fully committed because I still had the comfort of a dual-income household. I didn’t understand the system, the structure, or the level of consistency this business requires. I didn’t have to—not yet.
Then my marriage ended, and everything shifted at once. I was suddenly navigating a divorce, rebuilding my life, and trying to grow a real estate business at the same time. That season stretched me in ways I never expected.
There were moments I cried between showings. Moments I doubted myself. Moments I felt like giving up.
But that’s where God reminded me, my focus was not fully on him and I needed to surrender to him and his will not mine.
That’s where my discipline grew. That’s where I learned what this industry truly demands.
Real estate isn’t just about listings and closings.
It’s systems. It’s lead generation. It’s consistency. It’s understanding your expenses, your time, and your purpose. And it’s doing all of this even when life feels heavy.
The road wasn’t smooth, but it was necessary.
It forced me to grow up in business. It forced me to trust God in a deeper way. It forced me to become the woman I didn’t know I was capable of being. And today, I can look back and say the road may not have been easy, but it absolutely shaped me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As Your DFW Home Girl, my work goes far beyond opening doors and writing contracts. I specialize in new construction homes and helping homeowners who are facing foreclosure understand their options, protect their equity, and avoid losing everything at auction.
On the new construction side, I guide buyers through builder incentives, lot selection, floor plans, upgrades, inspections — all the details people don’t realize they need a strong advocate for. Builders have sales reps, but buyers should have someone representing their best interest too. I make sure they understand the process from contract to closing and secure the best terms possible.
On the foreclosure side, my work is deeply personal and purpose-driven. I’ve met homeowners who felt embarrassed, overwhelmed, or simply didn’t know that they had options. Some didn’t even know they could still walk away with equity instead of losing their home to the county. My job is to step in with compassion and strategy — whether that means negotiating with lenders, listing the home quickly to preserve equity, or creating a plan so they don’t walk away with nothing.
I’m most proud of the families who tell me I changed the trajectory of their lives. The ones who say, “I didn’t think anyone would fight for me.” The ones who realized they could still rebuild. That’s the heart of my work.
What sets me apart is the way I serve. I’m known for being hands-on, faith-led, and emotionally present throughout the entire process. I show up with empathy, but I also show up with strategy — strong negotiation skills, clear communication, and a teacher’s heart. Whether it’s a first-time buyer, a luxury new build, or a homeowner facing foreclosure, my clients know they’ll get honesty, education, and someone who truly advocates for them.
I don’t just want to help people buy or sell a home. I want to empower them with knowledge, protect their equity, and walk with them through life’s biggest transitions. That’s what I’m known for. That’s what I’m most proud of.
And that’s the purpose behind the work that I do.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Absolutely. I’m a firm believer that what you feed your mind shapes your life, and I try to stay connected to resources that build me spiritually, mentally, and professionally.
The Bible is my number one foundation. It centers me, guides my decisions, and keeps my perspective aligned with God’s plan and not my own. Whether I’m navigating business challenges or personal transitions, Scripture is the place I return to for clarity and peace.
In terms of personal growth and productivity, “Eat That Frog” by Brian Tracy has been a game changer. It taught me how to prioritize, overcome procrastination, and tackle the most important tasks first — which is crucial in real estate, where structure matters just as much as hustle
.
A book that impacted me on a deeper, internal level is “The Garden Within”. It helped me understand emotional healing, spiritual identity, and the importance of tending to the parts of ourselves we often overlook. It supported me tremendously during my own season of rebuilding.
For leveling up my business skills, “The Millionaire Real Estate Agent” is a staple. It breaks down the systems, models, and mindset of top producers in a way that is practical and actionable. It’s a book every agent should read, no matter how long they’ve been in the industry.
My current read is “The Money Puzzle”, and it’s helping me understand wealth-building in a more strategic, long-term way, from budgeting to investing to creating generational financial stability. As a business owner and a mother, this book has pushed me to think differently about how money works rather than how money feels.
These resources have shaped my discipline, my mindset, and my faith — and I carry lessons from each of them into my daily life, whether I’m serving clients, building my business, or continuing to grow as a woman.
