Conversations with Isabella

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabella.

Hi Isabella, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always been interested in photography and cameras in general, however I got to learn that there are so many careers I could pursue through my A/V high school class. My teacher, Mr.Robinson, introduced me to sports photography and a possible career in it. From there I was able to discuss an internship with the head football coach, Blake Meyer, at Centennial High School which lead me to work directly with the team. During footballs offseason I got to experiment with videography and photography to get an understanding of my specific style and capabilities. When the season officially started I had gain more confidence and knowledge to be where I am today with my skills and art.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road for me. There have been many times where I have made mistakes with footage, photos, or just misunderstandings of what the client truly wanted. There were times when these mistakes of mine have discouraged me and have me questioning myself. However, I have been able to learn many lessons and apply this to my future work to improve and keep moving forward with my photography.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have taken pictures for many events but football has been a primary focus with my photography. Something about the sport keeps me coming back and fueling my passion for sports media. My editing style and the way I carry myself helps me stand out from other photographers. It’s easy to get lost in what other creators are doing but staying focused on being yourself and thinking outside of the box helps with setting yourself apart from others. Being able to stick with my personal style is what I would say I’m most proud of.

What does success mean to you?
I would define success as the satisfaction and happiness you find within yourself based on what you are doing and if you have met your personal goal. If you are doing what you love and find deep satisfaction while pursuing it then I would say you are successful.
