Conversations with Ivy Myers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivy Myers.

Hi Ivy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m Chef Ivy Myers, and I’ve been cooking and for the past 26 years. I was a Chef in the Navy For five years and I have worked at a number of restaurants including house of blues, nine steakhouse, nova Italiano, risky steakhouse, and mama Jo’s market Grill just to name a few. I Have owned and operated a successful barbecue food truck in Dallas for the past seven years as well as a successful catering business. My current business venture brings me to Brandon’s dinner Playhouse. A black-owned dinner Theater in North Richland Hills. The owner Lamond B. Smith and I teamed up to bring customers a unique theatrical and culinary experience. With Mr. Smith running the front of the house doing every day from serving customers their meal to directing the play. While I do what I do best and in the kitchen. We have been over a month now and reviews have been good.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth ride!!! The struggles have been real. From lack of funding to poor business partnerships.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Chef and I’m known for my stuffed turkey legs, BBQ, and everything else lol. I’m most proud of my business actually being a family business and working with my kids.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Watching my mom cook Sunday
