Conversations with Jalisia Moore aka Moore Koffee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalisia Moore aka Moore Koffee.

Hello Jalisia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
March 2020, I decided to move to Far North Dallas from Baton Rouge, La. I previously just graduated college Oct 2018 with a Medical Assistant Diploma. Unfortunately, due to my school being closed after graduation, I wasn’t able to retake my state certification and I had to pay out of pocket. This had me discouraged but I didn’t give up my mom’s doctor’s office was hiring and I applied and got hired. Due to lack of training and unprofessional protocols, I lost my job and enrolled into Delgado College for my Associate’s Degree in Nursing before departure to the new city. I also applied to multiple clinics and hospitals in Dallas and no one wanted to hire me due to being non-certified but one day I received a call a day before leaving for an interview at a specialty clinic and I made it to Dallas March 3rd of that year. Of course, I still was taking online classes at Delgado and continued my journey. I immediately found an apartment and moved in that same week. I had the interview March 3, the same day I made it to Dallas! Everything went great and I got the JOB!!! A new life, a new start, and a new job I thought God finally answered all my prayers. Then…BOOM! Life hits! The state of Texas was closed down due to Covid-19. In my mind, I’m like no way I just made it to a new city now my life is being put on hold because of course the clinic is being cautious of this action and I could not start working. People started get sick and you know my plan has totally turned and did a 360. I got behind in bills of my new apartment because everything was closed and selected jobs were hiring. I eventually found a job at a furniture warehouse and worked there for three months. As I worked here, I connected with one of my Uber drivers not knowing he was about to introduce me to something new, something I always dreamed of. Duce Blaque was my Uber driver but he was also a CEO of “Blaque Dymond Models”, and an underground Artist. Blaque introduced me to Modeling and Music all in one. His models were supportive of his music, videos, and any campaign that had his name on it. I became interested instantly because as a kid I always had dreams of me being a leader in my women & children’s society. I met with the group, approximately 10 other girls and we connected and made art! He also introduced us to his famous Model cousin, Demarco Majors. I begin to attend fashion shows & pageants, red carpet events, movie premieres, video shoots, even pointers, and life coaching, and much much more. But one day after almost a year with the group, Duce decided he wanted to focus more on music so the group split. I decided to still do what I love and that makes the world smile and lead with my dignity!!! I applied myself much more because I didn’t have a manager but the work, I put it in caused more doors to open and connect with more models, fashion designers, entrepreneurs, actors, artists, professional photographers, and even producers. I become so effectuated with the camera that I even was published in my first magazine by Michaelseye Fotographi. This was my first professional shoot and I succeeded it in a pool setting with a below 30-degree temperature. This shoot was amazing and memorable because I also designed a shirt, my first piece out of old jeans…this was the day I realized I wanted to put nursing aside, just for now, and I want to become a fashion designer. I immediately enrolled into Wade College, which is located in downtown Dallas area. Once I started school a lot of gems were being shown through them. I learned how to start my LLC and gathered all the information I needed to start my own business. Instantly I went from not having much to Forming a Million-dollar business. The name of my company is “A Queen Bejeweled “, which means a Queen adorned with jewels. I thought was pretty cool and honorable because my daughter’s name is Jewel Amor. I then begin to buy clothes, hats, heels, and more off of Alibaba and begin re-selling out of my apartment and online. I eventually bought a car and started selling out of the trunk of my car as well. I even traveled state to state to sell my products. I expanded my varieties and started customizing t-shirts for holidays and learned how to sew, print and design using computerized machinery. I took my signature t-shirt “Queen Ebony Rose” and sold them as well to a small boutique in my hometown. I then discovered designing shoes. I also launched my shoe line, “Moore Kickz” in mid-August 2021. I became my own boss in June 2021 and never thought about working for anyone again. Over the past two years, I’ve been building a successful empire and plan to relaunch my new designs soon. I’ve had a minor setback in the last five months of 2022 due to an arrest in late January, which caused many of my contracts to be closed off but I do believe God has more in store for me and I will still be consistent in my work of art because I have many women and children looking up to the Woman I have become. Setback for a Major Comeback!!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road for me because of financial hardships, and not enough support or employees to help. It takes a village to raise a tribe.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In the midst of modeling, nursing, be a mom, a student, and much more I still consider myself “Jack of all trades”. This title alone set me apart from others because I’m gifted enough to be all these things and still be a leader! I began making music and painting.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up in Baton Rouge, LA was quite hard for me. I didn’t come from a rich family. My mom was a single mom of two girls and I was the oldest, so leadership was always in my nature. I had to look after my sister, Jaylen and that took away from me being a kid. I had to practically feel in a mother role to her because my mother worked a lot! I couldn’t do things like cheerleading or dancing because we didn’t have the money to fund for uniforms and fees and stuff. So, the cheer captain would still come to my house and held the practices there in my yard. I was blessed to have good this good friend in named “Sundae Brumfield” in middle school. But I was also still bullied throughout school because I was more on the heavier side and less fortunate of course, I didn’t have three and four pairs of shoes to wear to school and I got bullied because of that. I didn’t let it affect my personality, I still had pride and wore a smile!
