Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamarcus Anderson.
Hi jamarcus, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m from Louisiana, and cutting hair has been a part of my life long before it ever became a career. I’ve been a barber for 11 years now. I got licensed in 2014, and two years later, in 2016, I earned my instructor license. That shifted everything for me — it took me from just cutting hair to actually being able to teach the craft and help other barbers grow.
Almost three years ago, I moved to Dallas, and that move was a reset for real. I left behind everything familiar: my clientele, my reputation, my comfort zone. Coming out here with nothing but my skills and my work ethic forced me to lock in and elevate. Dallas pushed me into a stronger, more focused version of myself.
Along the way, I also became a member of Xi Psi Xi, a barber fraternity that’s been an important part of my journey. Being part of that brotherhood has allowed me to connect with other barbers, share knowledge, and grow not just as a professional, but as a mentor and leader in the craft.
Becoming an instructor showed me the real impact of this work. It’s not just fades and lineups — it’s confidence, motivation, and connection. I’ve seen how a cut can lift someone’s whole spirit, and that’s what keeps me passionate about what I do.
Through all the ups and downs, I created my brand, C.R.A.$.H. — Continue Rising After Setbacks Hit. That’s not just a slogan. That’s literally how my life has gone. I’ve taken losses, had to rebuild, had moments where I had to start from zero again. But every time, I rose back up. The brand is my story and the message I live by.
My journey hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been real. Every setback, every move, every lesson built me into who I am today — still grinding, still growing, still rising.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. Moving to Dallas was one of the hardest chapters of my life. I came out here with experience, skills, and a name back home — but none of that mattered once I touched down in a new city. Nobody knew me. Nobody knew my work. I had to rebuild everything from scratch.
The hardest part was going from a full, steady clientele in Louisiana to sitting in a new shop watching other barbers stay busy while I had to grind for every person who sat in my chair. I had to prove myself all over again, stay patient, and stay confident even on the slow days.
Dallas also tested me outside the shop. It’s fast, it’s competitive, and it’ll humble you quick. I had to adjust to the cost of living, the pace, the culture, and still stay locked into my purpose. There were times where it felt like the city was pushing against me, but I refused to fold. Every day I had to wake up and choose discipline.
But that struggle made me sharper. It forced me to network, push my brand, create content, promote myself, and deliver quality every single time. Dallas made me elevate my work ethic because the city doesn’t reward anything less.
It wasn’t a smooth road, but Dallas built my resilience. It made me hungrier, more focused, and more intentional with my craft. Looking back, the grind was worth it, because the version of me that came out on the other side is way stronger than the one that moved here.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a barber in Dallas, and I try to keep my approach simple — I’m here to serve people. I cut hair, I listen, and I do my best to make sure whoever sits in my chair leaves feeling a little better than they came in. I specialize in clean fades, tapers, and beard work, but I don’t see myself as “the best” at anything. I just show up every day, stay consistent, and put in the effort.
What I’m proud of is the relationships I’ve built. A lot of people trust me with their look, their stories, and sometimes their real-life struggles. To me, that means more than any fade or lineup ever could. I don’t take that trust lightly.
If anything sets me apart, it’s probably that I don’t try to do too much. I stay humble, I stay in my lane, and I let my work speak for itself. I know people have options, so every time someone chooses my chair, I’m grateful for it. I just want to keep improving, keep serving, and keep giving people a good experience.
What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, I’m working on a few big projects, but I’ll have to keep some details under wraps for now. One thing I can share is that I’m building my C.R.A.$.H. brand and laying the groundwork to eventually open my own barber school. I’m excited for what’s next and can’t wait to share more when the time is right.
