Today we’d like to introduce you to Jane Provoncha.

Hi Jane, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my business, Jane Provoncha Art, about 18 months ago, totally by chance! I had recently moved to Dallas with my husband and kids, and was inspired by the contemporary art I saw mixed with traditional interiors- there was more color and personality than what I’d seen in people’s homes elsewhere in the country.

I tried my hand at painting something abstract for my own home, decided to sell it, and the rest is history! I’ve stayed busy since, with commissions, collections on my website, and collaborations with The Studio Collective.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been a few obstacles in my first two years of my LLC, but they’ve all helped my business grow! Creating a website, navigating shipping large artworks, sourcing framing, and handling rejection are all challenges I’ve overcome as a new small business owner.

In the past, I feel like I shyed away from certain endeavors at the first sign of failure, and I’ve made it a point to NOT do that in my art business. “Just keep going!” is what I keep telling myself!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m known for contemporary, pastel-colored abstract art that fits in seamlessly with southern, traditional homes. My art has a grandmillennial, feminine vibe.

One of my favorite styles is my “Sage Blooms” series, a loosely-floral abstract in dreamy hues of blue and sage green. I’ve adapted it for many pieces and commissions in the series.

I paint primarily in acrylics on canvas, and usually on large-scale canvases. My largest commission was a canvas over 7 feet tall! I do lots of large pieces for empty walls, and overtop couches and credenzas.

While I started off with just abstracts, this year I’ve branched out into painting hydrangeas, and chinoiserie, both of which have been so creatively fulfilling. I have a collection of giftable chinoiserie birds coming to The Studio Collective December 5th!

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Create your own opportunities! I started my business as a self-taught artist with zero social media followers.

My goal for my second year was to show work in a gallery, and I have a solo show coming up December 5th with The Studio Collective!

I also will have my first paintings available to shop in-person when Barbie’s House, a new home design store, opens next month in Prosper.
