Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Green.
Hi Jasmine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
There’s a famous saying “that intentions go were energy’s flow. So, the question I had to ask myself was, where is your energy going to? Is it to your kids, your job, your relationships, your education? Where is your energy going to? Now before I could answer this question, I had to take out some time and be honest with myself. Once I figured out where my energy was going, I knew I had to make a change. I realized I had been stagnant for 4 years. I was in a one-bedroom apartment that I had made into a two so that me and my kids could be more comfortable. I was 28 years old and ashamed of myself for where I was in my life. I spent a lot of my time searching for love in all the wrong places, I realized that I was putting so much energy and time into chasing after men. And in doing so my intentions on my life hadn’t changed. I knew if I kept allowing myself to go down this road I would never grow. I knew that if I allowed myself to use my energy in the right manner my life could begin to change. In fact, I believe when I started to change the direction of where I was putting my energy not only did my intentions on my life change but so did my outlook on life. In doing this my life didn’t just change but so did my mindset. This helped me start my journey into finding my purpose, chasing dreams, and moving towards the next best version of myself.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all! The road to finding my purpose has been rough. There’s been so many times where I’ve wanted to give up and give in. One thing I’ve learned is that when you start to challenge yourself and stretch yourself to become what you’ve always wanted to be, life itself will challenge you. It’s one thing to say you want something but a whole different ball game when you go after what you want. I learned that when opposition and adversity strikes and trust me it will, it isn’t the time for me to give up. I had to go through it and learn from it. I couldn’t let what I went through break me or keep me from my dreams. I also learned that if I accepted the fact that there’s going to be some challenges along the way I could use it to my advantage.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well, I do a little of everything. I’m aspiring actress, model, and writer, and I also do interviews as well. I’m proud of the fact that I’m taking a chance on myself and stepping out of my comfort zone. I feel what sets me apart is that I’m myself. I don’t try to be someone I’m not.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
First, I think it’s important that you are willing. When I mean willing, I mean in putting in the work even when you don’t want to. Be willing to stay up late and get up early. And most importantly be willing to let your old self go so you can become who you have to be to succeed. Second, you have to uncondition yourself. You have to be able to unlearn some of the things you thought about yourself. I think that sometimes we are so conditioned in believing something that it can blind us and keep us from becoming all we can be and from success. And last but not least it’s standing up to yourself and the naysayers. You’re going to run into people in your life that may tell you that you can’t do something or that your dreams are impossible, but I chose not to listen to them. I decided to use it to, and it helped me move forward. I also have times when I have those voices in my head telling me that I can’t do something or that I may fail. I had to build up the courage to stand up to myself and all of my fears.
