Conversations with Jeremy Reece

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Reece.

Hi Jeremy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
It all started in the year of 2021. I had a desire for a while to record music but never knew where to start. Thankfully GOD led Todd Dulaney to start a production company called Dulaneyland Music. His company gave you access to everything you needed to bring your music to life such as producers, songwriters, background vocals, and much more. I signed up with the intention of paying someone to write me a song. Within a couple of weeks of signing up, I contracted a severe case of COVID-19 along with Pneumonia. I was very sick and felt that I was to the point of death. It was hard to breathe, and I barely had any strength to make it through the day. I begin to say to myself, GOD if this is your will for me to die from this, I am ready to see heaven. I begin to watch our church services, have my faith built on how GOD can heal and bring me out. My mindset ended up shifting immediately. I started to pray and believe that I shall live and not die. GOD came in and healed me completely of both illnesses allowing me to make a full and complete recovery.

After I recovered, I reached back out to Dulaneyland and started the process of having someone write me a song. A couple of weeks went by, and the songwriter advised me that some things came up in her life and she would no longer be able to write a song for me. I had to make a choice. Either try and find someone else to write me a song, get my money back or write something of my own. I had never wrote a song before and felt that it wasn’t my gift. I begin to reflect on the experience I just had and how GOD had just brought me out. It made me think about who GOD was in my life and his healing power. GOD blessed me to come up with song title “Healing.” The words came to me and melody, but I felt that it wasn’t ready. GOD then begin to quickly give me the words to “Who You Are To Me.” This came naturally and GOD was letting me know this is what HE wanted me to release first. The rest of it is history. I went through the process with Dulaneyland Music. Everything moved fairly quickly with the process that Dulaneyland had established. I was then also able to finish and complete my 2nd song “Healing.” This experience affirms GOD’s word in Romans 8:28 where it says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” GOD used this experience to unlock a gift I didn’t know was there. I’m so thankful for HIS goodness.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being challenged in life is inevitable but being defeated is optional. -Roger Crawford, I agree with this statement wholeheartedly and have to say this road has not been smooth. I’ve had some issues with producers, lost money, been misled, projects delayed several times, had to go back in and re-record, and the list goes on. It’s been rough, but I know that these are learning opportunities that will set me up for success in the future. See the things we go through allow us an opportunity to help others, causes us to draw closer to God for guidance, and makes us be more resilient. As the older saints use to say, “I am determined to run on and see what the end is going to be.”

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been active in the music ministry at Full Gospel Holy Temple for over 12 years. I serve in 3 choirs, am a member of a quartet group called Purpose, and a praise team worshiper. I believe what sets me apart is my unwavering dedication to the ministry, my standard of Holiness, and my unique style of singing. Outside of ministry, I have worked in the mortgage industry for over 10 years in various capacities.

We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
I have definitely experienced taking major risks in my lifetime. When I hear the word risk, I immediately think of the possibility of things going bad or even being uncertain/doubtful of an outcome. Deciding what I want my songs to be about, coming up with the background music, choosing a producer, releasing a CD, singing live are just a few things I feel like I’ve taken a chance on with becoming a gospel artist. How will I be received? Are the words of my songs relevant? Did I execute or minister that song effectively? Can I trust this producer to do right by me? Does the quality of the background vocalist fit with the style of the song? Do I have enough funds to complete this project? Even though these are all questions I’ve had to ask myself, I trust and believe that my reward will be greater than the risk. Please know that there are stumbling blocks along the way, but all things work together for the good of them that love God.
