Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Espinoza.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
“Yes, Of course. My story begins with a mix of beauty and hardship. I didn’t grow up with the most stable or supportive family, and from an early age I learned how unpredictable life can be. Theatre became the place where I found my confidence. Being on stage taught me how to use my voice, how to communicate emotion, and how to carry myself even when everything around me felt uncertain. Those skills shaped who I am today.
But behind the curtain, life was hard. My mom struggled deeply, and at one point she became homeless. Watching someone you love face that kind of instability stays with you forever. It didn’t just break my heart — it changed the direction of my entire life. That’s where the seed for real estate was first planted. I wanted to help people have the security my family never had. As I got older, I faced my own version of that instability. There were periods in my early adulthood when I was basically homeless too — bouncing from one friend’s home to another, just trying to get through each day. That experience humbled me in a different way. It taught me grit, gratitude, and empathy. It taught me that sometimes surviving is an accomplishment in it’s self.
Later, losing my mom at a young age was another moment that reshaped me. Grief has a way of forcing you to grow, even when you don’t feel ready. Her passing made me stronger, more grounded, and more intentional about the kind of woman I want to be. Everything I do carries a piece of her.
Professionally, I built a strong foundation in the restaurant industry. It was demanding, but it taught me discipline, leadership, hospitality, and resilience. There were many times when I felt like giving up — when life felt too heavy or progress felt too slow — but I always reminded myself of where I came from and why I started. That reminder keeps me humble. It keeps me focused.
Giving back is a core part of who I am today. I volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club, the North Texas Food Bank, the Salvation Army food pantry, and help sort gifts for the Angel Tree program during Christmas. Serving others helps me stay connected to my roots. It reminds me that community support is what carried me through some of my darkest moments.
Today, I’m a young woman building a career in real estate, driven by purpose rather than just success. My journey hasn’t been easy — it’s been layered with loss, instability, and growth — but every step has shaped me. I want my work to matter. I want people to feel safe, supported, and seen. And I want to use my past not as something that holds me back, but as something that fuels me to help others build the stability I once prayed for”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“Oh No. on top of my personal challenges, building a career and a business has never been easy. When people see the success or the confidence I have now, they don’t always see the nights I doubted myself or the days I felt completely defeated. In real estate and in the restaurant industry, you hear a lot of ‘no’s before you ever hear a ‘yes.’ You get ignored, rejected, and overlooked more times than you can count.
As a young woman, I’ve also faced my share of people who were rude, dismissive, or even sexist. There are moments where people underestimate you before you even open your mouth. At first, that hurt — it made me question myself. But over time, those experiences taught me how to stand my ground, how to speak up, and how to carry myself with confidence even when people doubt me.
Building a business requires thick skin, patience, and a willingness to keep going even when everything feels like it’s working against you. You have to learn to not take rejection personally. You have to learn to stay professional when others aren’t. You have to learn to believe in yourself long before anyone else does.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
“Yeah, So Right now, my work sits at the intersection of real estate, communications, and service. I started my professional journey in real estate because of my personal connection to housing and stability, and that will always be a part of who I am. Helping people find a safe place to call home matters to me because I know what it’s like to live without that security.
Recently, I made the decision to go back to school and pursue a degree in Marketing Communications. I’ve always been good at speaking, connecting with people, and expressing myself — and I wanted to build a future where I can use those strengths in a bigger way. My long-term goal is to move to New York City and build a new career in the communications field, whether that’s public relations, Marketing, brand work, helping business grow or even something that allows me to grow and challenge myself.
What I’m most proud of is giving myself permission to evolve. I didn’t stay stuck in one lane. I allowed myself to grow, change, and chase new opportunities. That takes courage — especially when you’ve faced the challenges I’ve faced.
What sets me apart is my resilience and my real-life experience. I’ve been homeless, I’ve faced rejection, I’ve dealt with people doubting me, and I’ve rebuilt myself more than once. Because of that, I bring authenticity, empathy, and strength into every environment. Whether I’m helping someone in real estate or creating a new path in communications, I show up with humility, passion, and the determination to make an impact.”
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
“Oh wow, that’s a tough one. Something surprising that most people don’t know about me is how much I’ve overcome quietly. People see my confidence, my work ethic, and the way I show up professionally — but they don’t always know that I was homeless at one point, jumping from friend to friend just trying to stay afloat. They don’t see the nights I felt lost, the moments I tried giving up on life, or the strength it took to rebuild myself.
I’m seen as someone who’s always smiling and that is my motto to “Always Smile” I say this because I truly believe a smile changes everything. I don’t ever want anyone to feel or go through what I have gone through in the past. If theres one act of kindness that can make a difference it’s a smile.
Another thing people don’t expect is that, even though I work in real estate, I’m actually pursuing a degree in Communications because I want to create an entirely new chapter for myself in New York City. A lot of people assume I’m settled where I am, but I’m someone who constantly evolves, grows, and isn’t afraid to start over.
I think what surprises people most is that behind everything I do — the professionalism, the ambition, the work ethic — there’s a very personal story that drives me. My past doesn’t define me, but it fuels me. There’s a lot, and I do mean A LOT, about my personal life I haven’t even shared but at the end of the day my faith in GOD is what keeps me going.”
