Today we’d like to introduce you to John Cappello.
Hi John, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Thanks for asking. I have had an interest in psychic abilities and metaphysical disciplines since I was a child. When I was young, Iread as much as I could about Extrasensory Perception (ESP) and Astrology and always admired people like the Amazing Kreskin, do you remember him?
I also had an interest in Astrology, but even though I saw these things as my hobbies, I didn’t feel I had any special abilities. I started to lose interest as I grew older.
In my twenties, my life surprisingly had many strange and difficult occurrences. I did not understand why life became so difficult, it didn’t make sense to me. I had a hard time getting ahead and reached my lowest point during a custody battle with my first wife and then, my father suddenly died.
And even though I won the custody battle, the situation around my father’s death would take years to unwind. It was during this period that some friends suggested I see a psychic. Their suggestion reignited my interest in psychic ability and Astrology. Suddenly, I felt like I had some answers. There were no magic or simple solutions, but there were reasons that were plausible. My issues were not unique from other people, and for the first time in a long time, I could see a path forward that was insightful.
The psychic I met introduced me to other students and invited me to attend classes, which I did for fun. The more I played with the class materials, the more fun I had and my natural abilities started to show. I think in hindsight, because I did it for fun, the pressure was off.
To my surprise, my old hobbies had returned, yet they were different this time. Now, people were asking me questions about their lives and responding to my insights with comments like, “You are spot on” which was a huge motivator to keep my practice going.
The truth is, I never dreamed I would be a full-time psychic. Looking back what I see now was that my other endeavors were not producing any promising results, so I shifted my focus. It took five years of practice before I started charging clients for readings. I was immensely impressed when other psychics started to come to me for insights on their lives. These colleagues were the beginning of my professional business.
Soon after, I started working at local psychic fairs and my time slots were always sold out. Yet I stayed part time. I also worked with people differently than other psychics did. For almost 10 years, any readings I did in a group or on a stage, I did in the dark or with a blindfold. I wanted to show the world that my work was authentic and give people confidence that my insights were real.
In 2008, I left my day job at the local chamber of commerce, sold my rental properties and launched my psychic career full time. I began to build a network of cities in Texas and surrounding states to travel to for readings. Then, in 2013 I wrote my first book, Open the Mind Exercise the Soul, and it won national acclaim. Today, I have written a total of 5 books and everyone has won awards for content and craftsmanship.
My other books include: Soul Exercises for the Open Mind, a workbook for psychic development and Open the Mind Heal the Heart, a metaphysical discussion about grief and healing. I also developed a series of children’s books that I call the “Angel Pop” series because it places angels in modern situations and demonstrates that angels are in our everyday lives today!
The first two books of the “Angel Pop” series are, Mom! There’s an Angel in the Kitchen, and Elli’s Pocket Angel Surprise. I have three additional books ready for publishing and other kids and metaphysical books in the works!
Writing has opened my eyes to the potential to reach many more clients than those in my local market. So to help with validation for clients across the globe, I decided to become certified with The American Federation of Certified Psychics and Mediums.
Not long after being certified, I started entering contests to get ranked as a psychic. It took a couple of years, but in 2017 I became the number one male psychic in the United States and the number two medium according to the Times Square Press. I was also named “Man of the Year” by American Psychic and Medium magazine. The book awards and the other distinctions have helped me gain more popularity and grow my business.
Currently, I am a contributing writer for Your Tango, an online magazine with over 30 million readers each month. The magazine has contributed to my business by exposing my work to a national clientele. Many of my articles have ranked number one on Google search based on the topic.
Radio stations around the country contact me during the holiday season to do live readings for their listeners. This has brought me many new clients and has given me a larger audience than ever. It is my hope to visit cities such as Chicago and St. Louis where many of these new patrons live.
My business continues to grow during the pandemic, and I have introduced new programs for my followers. One of these programs is my Psychic VIP Club. The club is open to anyone who purchases an online service at regular price. They receive an exclusive code that gives them a 20% discount for the rest of the year. That code can be shared with their friends and family and automatically renews if they use the code in November or December for the next year.
I hope to continue my work as a psychic for as long as possible. It has been an exciting career choice and at the young age of 65, I feel I have many more years to give. It is a humbling honor and a pleasure to serve so many with the gifts that I have been given.
We all face challenges but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not really. The truth is it hasn’t been a smooth road to build a business because of the perception of psychics. There is a natural skepticism about psychics and their work, so it is important that I am authentic with my intentions and specific with my information. It is not good enough to be general with my readings, so I seek unique details that are undeniably true.
The other piece is that it’s difficult to promote a psychic business because the people who come to me are in a vulnerable state. I take very seriously the feelings and experiences my clients are having and do my best to make sharing the messages with them as positive as possible, even when the information may not be good. Advertising is challenging because it can give the impression of making false guarantees. Word of mouth is the best advertising in my opinion because the client’s friend or family member who recommended me is proof that my work was of the highest quality. I am blessed that positive referrals from past clients are my best tools for obtaining business.
Many clients return after many years because, even if the information I gave them did not sound correct at the time, it came true just as I predicted. It may not have been in the time frame expected, but it was accurate and true. Returning clients share their appreciation for my gifts when we meet again and that is always very special to me.
I am also blessed with a supportive wife who has been invaluable to making my business viable. She has been my assistant and editor. Her practical expertise and support has been an integral part of my success.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My Work
My profession as a psychic medium transcends many disciplines besides providing perception and insight to clients. It is a kind of spiritual ministry that brings with it a responsibility to use my gifts for the best interests of the people who trust me with the information I am giving them. The work is creative, intellectual, philosophical, and healing because it is about originality, new thinking, reaching the higher mind, and self-discovery during difficult times.
My Specialties and What I Am Known For
I believe I am known for my uncanny talents to sense an issue or to acknowledge a spirit around my client. It is best that I do not know anything about a client before we meet because my gifts work best when I am fully clear of any preconceived ideas or notions. There are no guarantees to my work, but after 30 years of practice, my success rate is very high.
What Am I Most Proud Of
I am most proud of being able to help people in crisis. There is nothing more humbling than a person letting me know that their reading changed their life. It is the primary reason I continue in this profession.
Secondly, I am proud of my books on psychic ability, grief, and angels. My psychic development books define psychic gifts as I perceive them, the grief work takes a macro view of the issue and provides unique insights. My children’s books about angels are about teaching children the value of virtues and why they are never alone because God and His angels are always with them.
Finally, my clients have been loyal and have supported me for many years.
What Sets Me Apart From Others
I cannot claim to be a better psychic medium than anyone else, but I work in my profession full time. I develop it by traveling around the country, writing books and articles, and teaching about metaphysics and performances on the radio. I am deeply committed to my profession and see it as my primary career and my life’s work.
As I mentioned above, I do not use tools such as Tarot cards or other divination practices. I hold objects to collect energy impressions and then use my psychic gifts of clairsentience, clairvoyance, clairaudience, claircognizance, clair fragrance, and clair gustus. Divination tools are effective for others, but my work is different because I do not rely on them.
Psychic and mediumship work requires a compassionate approach. My work is a kind of ministry, personal coaching, and counseling combined. In a reading, I am the one talking because that’s my job. The work is authentic because I can peer into a person’s life and discuss specifics of their life without being told about them!
I am also very easy to find online. You can schedule a call or see my list of upcoming events easily on my website. The site is linked to my social media and is current.
Finally, I have a commitment to excellence that I make to all of my clientele. The opportunity to work with others and give them valuable insight from “beyond the physical” is a responsibility that I take very seriously. It is my goal to give accurate information whether it be from my psychic abilities or making a connection with a person from the other side.
Any big plans?
I plan to continue traveling, publishing, developing my social media presence while also teaching about my work and helping others to develop their skills. My goal is to develop definitions and practices that will further the understanding of our natural abilities and debunk the skepticism that they do not exist. Our natural abilities enrich and empower us to be better human beings and use our talents for the greater good.
I would love to tour internationally but if I’m totally transparent with you, my biggest hope is to host my own psychic mediumship television program on a popular network so millions can witness my work themselves!
What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
It is my hope that a traditional publisher will publish my books and that I can tour nationally and internationally. These are goals that I want to continue to pursue. I want to share my talents with a larger audience.
In the meantime, I will produce more books and articles on the web, travel regionally, and grow my clientele.
