Conversations with Joshua Mitchell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Mitchell.

Hi Joshua, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Josh, but I go by Chef Eazy or just Eazy. Born in New Orleans, but raised in Dallas, you can say I’ve been exposed to the culinary art of cooking my whole life. Even though I’ve been fascinated by cooking my entire life, I didn’t really start cooking for myself until I got to college.

I got to Howard 2013 and graduated in 2017 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During my time there cooking transformed from a necessity (broke college student) to a loved hobby. While I loved it, it didn’t transform into a passion until May 14, 2017 – Mother’s Day, not even 24 hours after I graduated, and the day I lost my dad. This single event in time transformed my entire life.

My dad always loved to cook, and he was good at it. So, to cope with the loss, I released my pain in the kitchen. I spent day in and day out in the kitchen for months on end. Eventually, my passion was met with skill. Two years later in 2019, Chef Eazy was born.

I started working as a Technology Consultant in DC September 2017, but I was cooking the entire time I was there. Up until I suddenly quit 05/2021. There were A LOT of reasons why I decided to leave this high-paying position (more death, stress, depression, etc.), but the most impactful reason was so I could pursue my passion for cooking full-time as a Traveling Private Chef.

Alas, this sudden change came with a series of unfortunate events and consequences. I went from having new clarity and vision about my life purpose to a man in deep depression, battling thoughts of suicide and paranoia. This phase went on for 456 days straight. It wasn’t until I went (forced) on a family trip to Jamaica in 2022. This is the trip that allowed me to change my entire life back around.

After returning to Dallas from an extended stay in Jamaica, it’s like I had a new clarity, vision, and purpose. You could say I was reborn again! In the next few months after that, I was able to heal myself, start cooking again, and I even got back on social media.

Fast forward to October 2022, I’ve been able to rebuild my career as a Private Chef AND I was able to secure National and Celebrity clientele.

What’s next for Eazy? Well, I plan to continue walking in my Faith. Guided by my God, Protected by my Angels.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No. The road was nowhere near smooth. I couldn’t see it at most times. I got through everything that came to me through prayer, introspection, and action.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I currently am a Traveling Private Chef, Small Business Consultant, and Musical Artist.

What sets me apart? My experiences and my unwavering love for the human race. I fear none, but I love all.

What does success mean to you?
Being in a position to do what you love every day. No better feeling than being at peace and controlling your own time.
