Conversations with Kari Sanders

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kari Sanders.

Hi Kari , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Well, my story really starts like many women I know. An unplanned pregnancy forced me into a career change but I was determined to make something beautiful under my circumstances. Started in Hair school excelling immediately joined the star team and help create the art team which later on started one of the biggest hair school fashion shows created. After graduation I went into Apprentice under 2 20 year veteran Stylist and it was truly an honor to learn under them. When my time was meant to end with them, I then moved over to the goal Salon, this is the salon that I had always wanted to work at! at the salon is truly when everything changed for me. I’m at the group of girls that launched me into my career, establishing my handle for non-blondes and realizing the type of style I was ready to be! After the Salon Owner turned out to be a total creep thank you me to movement… We all left and opened our own space… this was when we really gained our confidence as Stylist and a lifelong friendship! I applied and was able to get on the Sebastian team and traveled all of Texas teaching, new stylist, unique, and fun trends! This whole time following my passion in my career, I managed to raise a beautiful son support my husband in school through his doctorate and opening his clinic having another beautiful daughter and working my ass off! Here I am 15 years later I still love what I do. I still have such a strong passion for Hair and people and now I strive to work with LGBTQ individuals giving them a safe space and still being a Blonde specialist and the best one in Texas

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
it’s definitely not been a smooth ride! There were many struggles in our industry, one being a woman to having kids and being a partner to my amazing husband, but I came with a lot of long hours a lot of studying and very, very tired feet

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Blonde specialist to also works exclusively with major color corrections. Every human knows that when your appearance is off your entire world off when I look forward to the most is giving someone the transformation they always wanted and I can’t tell you how many happy tears I’ve been in my chair.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Sure, I really want them to know how hard hairstylist work, but only physically put the emotional toll. We hear all of your stories we share your tears. We have such a strong bond shoot sometimes I see clients more than I see my friends and the bond is something that we all love and don’t worry, whatever you say to your stylist stays with your stylist
