Conversations with Krystal Henderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Henderson.

Hi Krystal, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was a little girl, I was always the one stopping on hikes to take pictures of flowers and anything in nature that caught my eye. I didn’t realize it then, but that love for capturing the little things would come back around in such a big way later in my life.
Fast forward to one of the hardest seasons I’ve ever walked through… I left an abusive marriage, sold my home and moved to Texas for a fresh start. I had no family or friends, I was ready to completely rebuild. My whole life felt like it was falling apart. I told myself, “I may be a single mom but I’m going to do this, I’m going to provide a better life for my children. I’m going to take photography seriously and find my joy.” I started my photography business and it’s growing faster than I can keep up! My goal is to slow it down a little bit, enjoy it, tell my story and hopefully encourage others!
In March 2024, I got the chance to second shoot a wedding… and I was instantly obsessed. Like, fully in it. The emotions, the chaos, the beauty of it all. I loved every second. That one opportunity turned into about 40 weddings in my first year, which still blows my mind.
Now this year, I’m shifting a little and really leaning into corporate and event photography and it honestly feels so right.
Photography found me again when I needed it the most. It gave me purpose in a time where I was rebuilding everything from the ground up. And now, I want my business to be more than just photos. I want it to be a space where people feel seen, supported, and encouraged! Where real stories are told.
Because if I can rebuild my life… I know you can too!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have learned to lean into my faith and believe in myself. I recently quit my job to pursue photography fully time! I’m sure I will hit road blocks in this journey but it will be okay. If you always wait for the “right” time, you may never do it and you’ll never know.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a Dallas-Fort Worth corporate and event photographer with a background in weddings and family photography. Connection has always been at the core of what I do.
As I’ve grown, I’ve found my passion in corporate events and professional portraits, where I get to not only document important moments, but also represent my clients’ brands with intention.
What truly sets my business apart is that it’s built on values. I care deeply about the experience I provide, the relationships I build, and the trust my clients place in me. I strive to making people feel comfortable, confident, and seen.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5–10 years, I see my business growing into something so much bigger than just photography.
I see myself established in the corporate and events space, working with brands, companies, and high-level events. Capturing not just what they look like, but the energy and story behind them. I want to be known as someone people trust to walk into any room and deliver, no matter the environment.
But beyond that… I see this becoming a platform.
A space where I’m not just taking photos, but connecting with people, sharing my story, and encouraging others, especially women who are rebuilding, starting over, getting sober, or chasing something they’re scared to go after. I want my journey to show people that it’s possible to start from nothing and create something meaningful.
I can also see myself stepping into more, whether that’s mentoring, speaking, writing a book or even growing a team. Creating opportunities not just for myself, but for others too.
At the end of the day, success for me isn’t just about how big my business gets, it’s about the impact it has. If I can build something that supports my life, gives me freedom, and helps other people feel seen and empowered along the way… that’s everything.
