Conversations with Kyle Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Davis.

Hi Kyle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
So I started out working for my mom and dad when we tried to start a real estate investing company very quickly realize that we were jumping on board when everyone else wanted to get into real estate investing, they went back to retiring and I had to look into what was my next step. I decided to continue in construction. Working for a flooring company for a couple years and then getting into the briefcase, contracting side of things as the installer and operator. And shortly after realizing that I had to give up 30% of every job for using someone else’s name and company logos, I decided it was time to give us a go on my own. At that point, I started with a business partner, rent a husband handyman and remodeling company. And it’s been an amazing journey for the past 14 years. I now own the company outright with my wife. We have a couple employees. I have someone run my social media and bookkeeping for me. Moving shortly to Weatherford from Fort Worth, but still maintaining majority of my business in Fort Worth and surrounding areas.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing in construction is smooth. You have to learn to adapt to the new styles and the changes in the business consistently. It has been fun. Seeing how things changed throughout time some struggles we dealt with on occasion or customers that wanted a lot of extra work done but just assumed that since we were there working already that charging extra was absurd

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I always tell people that it’s easier for me to tell you what we don’t do and that’s Roofing and foundation work. We are known to be very easy to deal with great communicators and always easy to get a hold of and return if there’s any issues. I am proud to say we are on the preferred vendors list for Williams Trew.
I feel like one thing that sets us apart from others is that we are a small company that does not hire out subcontractors you meet us day one and we are there every day you need us until we are done with your project

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
So one thing a lot of people are surprised about when we do handyman projects throughout the house is that we build custom cabinets and custom furniture as well
