Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacey Taylor
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I never planned on becoming a real estate agent, but looking back, it makes perfect sense. I grew up in a small town where hard work wasn’t optional—it was just part of life. Whether it was sports, school, or anything else, you had to show up, put in the effort, and figure things out as you went. That mindset stuck with me, especially through my years playing college softball, where I learned discipline, teamwork, and how to push through challenges. After college, I got into coaching and built a social media presence through my love of sports, which made me realize how powerful digital marketing is for building real connections.
When I got into real estate, I saw how many first-time homebuyers felt lost, especially when it came to securing funds. I knew I could help, not just by guiding them through the process but by breaking things down in a way that actually made sense. Over time, I also started coaching other agents on branding and social media, showing them how to attract clients in a way that feels natural. Now, my work is split between helping buyers find homes in the Frisco area and teaching realtors how to grow their businesses. It’s not the path I expected, but it combines everything I love—helping people, solving problems, and making things simpler. And at the end of the day, that small-town grit still drives me to show up, put in the work, and keep pushing forward.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to success in real estate hasn’t been smooth. In the beginning, I had no transactions, no steady income, and no real roadmap—just a belief that if I worked hard enough, I’d figure it out. I questioned if I was in the right career. Learning how to generate my own business from scratch felt overwhelming. Social media became a game-changer, but even then, it took time to build trust and prove myself. Through it all, the support and guidance from my team at Unlocking DFW made a huge difference. Having experienced mentors and a team that genuinely wanted to see me succeed gave me the tools and confidence to build my business. I had to put in the work, but I never had to do it alone. Growing up in a small town taught me resilience, but having the right people around me helped turn that grit into real success. Looking back, every struggle was a lesson, shaping me into the agent—and the person—I am today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a real estate agent in Dallas, TX, specializing in helping first-time homebuyers navigate the process with confidence. I focus on the Frisco area, working with buyers who often face the challenge of securing funds for their down payment and closing costs. Beyond just finding homes, I educate my clients, making sure they understand every step so they feel empowered rather than overwhelmed.
What sets me apart is my background in sports and coaching, which has shaped my approach to real estate. I grew up in a small town where grit and hard work were essential, and I bring that same determination to my business. I’ve also leveraged social media to build trust and connect with clients in a way that feels authentic and approachable. In addition to working with buyers, I coach other realtors on branding and content creation, helping them grow their businesses through social media.
One of the things I’m most proud of is how I’ve built my real estate business from the ground up, with the guidance and support of my team, Unlocking DFW. I didn’t start with a network or an established client base—I had to learn how to create opportunities, market myself, and earn trust. Seeing my clients achieve homeownership, especially when they thought it wasn’t possible, is what makes this work so rewarding.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was competitive, determined, and always up for a challenge. Coming from a small town, I learned early on that success wasn’t handed to you—you had to work for it. Sports were a huge part of my life, especially softball, which taught me discipline, resilience, and how to push through setbacks. I was the kind of kid who hated losing more than I loved winning, which drove me to always give my best effort.
Outside of sports, I was outgoing and loved connecting with people. I was the friend who would hype everyone up before a big game and the one who found creative ways to solve problems. I also had a natural leadership streak, which later translated into coaching and, eventually, helping others in real estate. Looking back, a lot of what shaped me back then—hard work, teamwork, and figuring things out as I went—are the same things that drive me today.
