Conversations with Latisha Hall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Latisha Hall.

Hi Latisha , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
“Baking isn’t just a business for me; it’s a legacy. From participating in family recipe debates to mastering my grandmother’s legendary ice cream, I spent my youth learning that the best ingredients are patience and connection. After years of honing my craft for friends and family, I turned my passion into a professional mission. Now, with formal qualifications in hand, I combine technical expertise with family tradition to create edible art. I am driven by a simple goal: to make every customer’s milestone unforgettable through the art of the perfect cake .”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road hasn’t always been smooth, particularly as I balanced the demands of family life with a total career pivot. As the first in my family to take culinary arts to a professional level, I often felt like I was navigating a map I had to draw myself. There were seasons of self-doubt where I had to learn to trust my own hands and understand that walking a unique path sometimes means walking it alone. However, through prayer and consistent self-motivation, I’ve learned to embrace the “do’s and don’ts” of the baking world as lessons rather than obstacles. I’ve grown to truly enjoy the process, finding peace in taking it one cake at a time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
“I create custom edible art, specializing in everything from 3D object cakes to elegant wedding designs. I am best known for my ‘illusion’ cakes—pieces so realistic that guests often don’t realize they are looking at a dessert until the first slice is cut. What sets my work apart is my deep passion for detail and my commitment to the ‘story’ behind every cake. I don’t just bake; I immerse myself in my client’s theme to create a deeply personal connection. My goal is simple: to deliver a cake that is visually stunning, technically sound, and undeniably delicious.”

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
“If I could go back, I’d tell myself: ‘Trust the journey, not just the destination.’ Baking is a lifelong education, so stay curious and never stop learning. You won’t have all the answers on day one, and that’s okay. Put God first, trust your intuition, and surround yourself with a support system that lifts you up. You can’t do this alone, but with patience and self-belief, you will find your way. Enjoy every step of the process—it’s where the real magic happens.”
