Conversations with Lev Wright

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lev Wright.

Hi Lev, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Well, Stone Heart started about 4 years ago when singer and guitarist Lev Wright & Drummer Orion McGuill met in Freshman year of high school, and bonded over our love for Green Day and punk rock music. Soon after that our first bassist, Joey joined, and was our longest running bassist. Our first few years we started off playing talent shows and performing at smaller places for fun, though we knew we wanted to start playing bigger shows and to a bigger audience. We picked the name Stone Heart around this time, as a joke about the town of Midlothian where we come from, for in the town of Midlothian Scotland, there’s a giant stone heart that gives you good luck. In December of 2023 we recorded demos for our first “real” album, Trouble In Paradise, with the original trio of Orion, Lev, and Joey. A bit later in September of 2024 we recorded the entire album, and released it onto streaming platforms. Shortly after recording Trouble In Paradise, however, Orion was forced to quit the band after complications with his school work and prior commitments. Around this time, our second major drummer, Jacob Jordan joined the band. Jacob was a good replacement for Orion, for he fit the co-owner role with Lev perfectly. Lev also brought in a second vocalist who took over for a bit, allowing Lev to focus on writing guitar parts. Keitan Greer, the new vocalist, wrote songs such as “Don’t Forget Me,” and “Dreams” off of an ep that would later be named the “Don’t Forget Me Sessions,” recorded in a friends home studio. Due to complications with his mental health, and Jacob almost moving away, Orion McGuill rejoined the band in May of 2025, after Lev recorded the drum parts to the “Don’t Forget Me Sessions.” Around this time Keitan also left the band, taking with her Joey on bass, officially ending the original trio era of Stone Heart. Since then we’ve talked about how we wish to continue, and brought in Adakin “Solo” on lead guitar, and Marvin West on bass guitar. We decided to remove Trouble In Paradise from Spotify, and plan on removing Don’t Forget Me as well, in place we’ve decided to have our next album, 99 Days, be our debut album. We’re now preparing to go into David Tribbles “Tribulations” studio and record 99 Days,

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s not always been smooth, we’ve been struggling to find a 4th member for years, our first lead guitarist moved away, and anybody else we ever brought into the band didn’t fit us much. Orion leaving was also a big struggle for us, and his situation at home continues to be a struggle to this day.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Stone Heart started out as a punk rock group back when we started, though we’ve evolved into an alternative-emo type of sound, opting more to sound like bands such as Car Seat Headrest, and My Chemical Romance. If you want work that is released, our most proud of song is currently “Time To Go” from Don’t Forget Me, but I’m extremely proud of our new album we plan to record soon, specifically songs like 99 Hours and Forgiveness Doesn’t Come Easy. I’d say we stand out from other bands because of our more theatrical acts when we have shows, opting to put on a performance instead of a punk rock show as we used to.

What’s next?
We’re hopeful for our new releases to be some of the best work we’ve ever done, and we plan to bring in a full time keyboardist as well. We’re definitely making changes in how we prepare for shows, for now we’re looking to make our shows more professional and less punk “diy” than we have been before.
