Conversations with Mauro Gonzalez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mauro Gonzalez

Hi Mauro, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in the kitchen was only 15 years old and I have been there for five years now and have perfected dishes along with certain culinary techniques. I believe what I do is special and does not need academic education to learn these things. I first found my love for my family and cookout almost every weekend. My dad and Chef were really good friends and I was able to have opportunity to work in the kitchen, I’m currently in. I didn’t start off as a dishwasher like most people, but I sure didn’t have it easy.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been pretty smooth because I haven’t struggled as much as other people have but there is long days where I work over 13 hours non stop.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently a chef at a private golf club (can’t say the name). I typically am in charge of pastries, meats, preps on the daily and special private dinners. I’m know for my special a unique creations and having a special talent at such a young age.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I think it’s important to find somebody you trust, somebody that is Positive, and somebody that you were able to grow with !
