Today we’d like to introduce you to Meagan Jackson and Katie Franklin.
Hi Meagan and Katie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Katie and I studies together at University of North Texas completing our Master’s in Community Mental Health. We each went on our own way working with children and families in community agencies, schools, hospitals and private practice. After a decade on our own paths we reunited to work together in a private practice. We both specialize in supporting parents navigate life and often found ourselves supporting each other as we navigated parenting! After hours of sitting on the couch together talking through our clients and own parenting struggles we decided to create a place to support parents through the beautiful, messy, overwhelming, hilarious work of raising kids.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Our journey to this point has been shaped by both personal and professional struggles. Learning how to be moms and therapists at the same time has been full of ups and downs. We believe these experiences deepen our understanding and strengthen our ability to support parents.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Katie is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor based in Frisco, Texas, with a heart for helping families navigate tough transitions. She specializes in working with parents and families through difficult transitions. She’s also a passionate educator, regularly training and mentoring up-and-coming professionals in the field.
At home, Katie is a single mama raising two spirited daughters—ages 11 and 13—who are science-loving, kickboxing, plant-growing forces of nature. When she’s not managing carpools or cheering from the sidelines, Katie finds peace in watercolor painting and nurturing her own ever-growing collection of houseplants and backyard vegetables.
She brings humor, insight, and lived experience to every podcast conversation—because she knows firsthand that parenting isn’t easy, but it’s never boring.
Meagan is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor who has spent years walking alongside families through the messy, beautiful, and challenging parts of life. Her work focuses on helping children feel understood, supporting parents through the ups and downs of raising them, and building stronger family connections through compassion and practical tools.
But Meagan doesn’t just talk about parenting—she lives it. She and her husband are raising three kids between the ages of 10 and 14 in the middle of Texas chaos, complete with school drop-offs, sibling drama, soccer games, and snack negotiations. She’s energetic, vibrant, and funny, and she brings that same realness and warmth into every episode of the podcast.
Whether she’s in the therapy office or chasing her kids through the backyard, Meagan shows up with humor, heart, and a deep belief that while the days are long… the years really are short.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
We are always still learning how to do these things well! Katie and I believe in being intentional with our time and energy, having a wonderful support system and finding humor in all of the things!
