Today we’d like to introduce you to Mone’t Anderson.
Hi Mone’t, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my creative journey by attending beauty school, graduating in 2007, where I built a strong foundation in hair and beauty. I later attended college and graduated in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology. During that time, I began focusing on makeup and started posting on YouTube as a way to teach myself, practice, and document my growth. What began as a personal learning tool quickly turned into a way to share my knowledge with others. Originally a military brat born in Killeen, Texas, I eventually moved to Dallas after college to further pursue my career. There, I began working at MAC while freelancing both through the brand and independently. That passion for beauty, hair, and fashion evolved into a creative space where self-expression meets education, while also opening the door to meaningful conversations around confidence, self-care, and mental health. Through my work, I strive to inspire others to embrace their creativity and feel empowered both inside and out.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey hasn’t been a smooth, but it has shaped who I am today. Growing up, I faced challenges like overcoming periods of homelessness and learning to support myself financially. I’ve always had creativity at my core, but I was often told to have a “backup plan,” which meant being encouraged to prioritize college over pursuing my passion —a decision I regret because my heart has always been in creative work.
During college, I worked at Walmart for almost seven years, starting as a cashier and later moving into the jewelry department. Balancing full-time work, school, and building my creative skills taught me a lot about discipline and resilience. While I still sometimes struggle with time management, these experiences taught me how to prioritize and keep moving forward. While in college, I also began focusing on makeup and started posting on YouTube as a way to teach myself, practice, and document my growth.
Over the years, I balanced multiple roles, from freelance makeup artistry to caregiving, all while building my creative entrepreneurship. I also experienced an unhealthy and abusive relationship, which was a really rough. I ended up taking a break from YouTube —it took me a minute to come back, which I do regret, but I also needed that time to collect myself. Going through that period taught me boundaries, self-worth, and the importance of prioritizing my mental and emotional health.
Alongside my career in beauty, I also started my own cosmetic line, McDLuxuryCo, which is very close to my heart. I had to temporarily close it due to medical expenses and the need for additional capital to expand the product line, but I plan to relaunch it once I’m ready. It’s truly my baby, and I’m excited to bring it back stronger than ever.
Mental health has always been important to me. Growing up, I saw both of my parents struggle, which is part of why I’m such a strong advocate today. I personally go to therapy, which has helped me tremendously, though I still experience anxiety and anxiousness, and I continue to work through it.
Health has also been a major challenge. In 2020–2021, I was diagnosed with ITP, a blood disorder linked to low iron, which made everyday life more difficult. By 2023, I required iron transfusions under the care of an oncologist, which added financial and emotional strain.
In 2025, I experienced severe abdominal pain and ended up in the emergency room. What I initially thought was stress or anxiety turned out to be a large mass attached to my spleen. On December 1, I had surgery to remove it—a mass the size of a baby—and my doctors told me it was dangerously close to rupturing. I’m grateful to be here, but recovery is going to take a moment. I’ve been living with pains and challenges that cannot be seen, and having chronic illness and fatigue can be incredibly hard. Unfortunately, if you don’t look like what you’ve been through, people often don’t see the illness, which is something I’ve had to navigate while continuing to pursue my passions.
This has truly been an emotional journey, full of challenges, growth, and resilience, and I’m grateful for every step that has brought me to where I am today. Through all of this, I continue to pursue my passion for beauty, hair, fashion, and mental health advocacy. These experiences have strengthened my drive to empower others, embrace creativity, and prioritize both self-expression and well-being.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a creative and professional makeup artist creating across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok under MsCreativeDiva. I focus on beauty, blending, fashion, style, and self-care, with a strong emphasis on teachin helping people truly understand beauty and personal style, not just watch it.
I’m also leaning more into storytelling, sharing more of who I am and my lived experiences across all platforms so my content feels more human and connected. My background as a makeup artist shapes how I approach beauty and styling as a whole.
In 2023, I paused taking makeup clients after the studio I worked in closed, which gave me space to reassess my direction in my career and if I were to began makeup my focus would be bridal makeup, paired with continued beauty education.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to keep going and reinvent myself. Even when I’ve been tired, I’ve continued to pivot and evolve while staying true to who I am currently and who I’m becoming. I’m proud to show up as the same person online and offline—genuine, grounded, and consistent.
What sets me apart is integrity, versatility, and intention. I’m a true triple threat—artist, educator, and storyteller. I study whatever I touch and take pride in doing it well, bringing authenticity and care into everything I create.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’d love readers to know that everything I share is rooted in intention and growth. I’m in a season of refining my work while also learning to accept where I am currently at. Beauty has always been more than how things look; it’s about confidence, care, and honoring where you are while becoming who you’re meant to be. If my work helps someone feel seen, empowered, or inspired to keep going, then I’m doing what I’m meant to do and honestly that is enough for me.
