Today we’d like to introduce you to Muna Egbudiwe.
Hi Muna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I originally was born in Nigeria & moved to Dallas with my family when I was 3. Growing up was cool; I give props to my parents cause they always installed it in me that how I’m perceived to the world was important, especially with where we come from. It made me pretty aware of my style at a young age & it just molded more as I got older, every weekend I would be in church on Sundays, so I had a chance to be multi-dimensional with looks. Doesn’t always have to be streetwear; being able to mix streetwear with class was fun to me. I’ve always been into fashion and having my own personal style. Middle school was when I really expressed my style, and it only grew into High School. It’s funny because my high school had uniform dress code, and I would always be in the office because I was never was in uniform; from flannels to olive chinos, I always wanted to stand out. My peers always told me to create a clothing brand, but I was hesitant till about my sophomore year of high school. I was in the shower, and the name “Sadity” came to me; it stuck with me, and I put “Alma” before it because I wanted when people said the brand’s name out loud it sounded like they were saying “I’m a Sadity” This was in 2018 and I didn’t officially unveil it until 2019, I started off selling hoodies and jeans made by my best friend’s mom off of a circuit machine, they were horrible quality but I had support just because people were so eager for me to release something I created. I released it during my Prom of my senior year. I was always into pictures & social media, so I kind of knew how to promote myself & the brand at a young age. The road I went through with Sadity was trial and error. Everything was self-taught so there were a lot of lessons learned, I truly had to fail multiple times to really surpass in the lane I wanted to be in. 4 years later new levels have been reached and the quality gets better by time. I don’t ever like to classify my brand as “merch” because I feel with a brand it has collections that contain pieces people love forever. Sadity is about living your perfect life in the perfect clothes. When you look good, you feel good & you play good so I take pride in creating some of the upper-scale quality streetwear that’s ageless. I have great manufacturer who we have a great relationship who never fails to bring my ideas to life and makes the process of creating for my supporters easy.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been everything BUT a smooth road. Str
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m big on saying I’m a designer more than a clothing brand owner. Before I started doing clothes in beginning of Middle school, I was customizing shoes< my creativity has always been my greatest strength its led me to explore more things about myself and in making things people love. I would say I specialize in making something look good and feel good. Style is a big part of a person’s persona and I want to make that connection with people every time I sell them a piece of Sadity. I’m most proud for the distance the brand has come all off the strength of me being consistent in wanting to break barrier in reaching new levels for the quality of work. In all I’m most proud of my progress, I’m nowhere near where near where I used to be but not close to where I want to be.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
One of the characteristics that helped Alma Sadity grow to be successful was being attentive to what it trending in fashion but putting my own twists when it came to designing all clothes & items. High-quality clothes and marketing. All of those and then just being consistent in doing that, the community I were around, it started off so small with just my close friends in your brand and then branching out to friends of friends, off word to mouth. A huge part of my success in my influence in the people around me life it draws support constantly.
