Hi Nichole, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Nichole Lawton. I’m 32 years old and a single mom to 2 kids. 6 years ago, I decided to go to hair school to pursue my dreams. I always knew hair was my passion but never really got serious about it until I had my son! Initially, I went to hair school because I wanted to provide a great life for my children, and it’s one of the only professions where you can choose your own schedule. I fell in love with the beauty industry and I specialize in blonding, lived-in color, and precision haircuts!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been easy by any means. My biggest struggle has been my employers not being understanding of me being a single parent. I have worked for quite a few salons but in the end, I decided it was best to be my own boss
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in blonding (highlight/balayage services), precision haircuts, and hand-tied extensions! I take pride in every single client I do. It is never the same. I personalize every single haircut or color service to what my client wants
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I think the pandemic was hard and life-changing for everyone. But, for me, I just realized the world is always going to be chaos, we just have to learn to appreciate and be grateful for the things we do have in that moment and not live in fear for what may or may not come in the future
