Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Jackson
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey began in Minnesota, where I faced challenges that taught me the importance of resilience and perseverance. In 2016, I moved to Arlington, Texas, seeking new opportunities and a fresh start. As I navigated my own personal and financial struggles, I realized that many women and youth in underserved communities were facing similar obstacles—lack of resources, financial instability, and mental health challenges. I knew I wanted to be part of the solution.
Determined to make a difference, I became a certified life coach with a focus on accountability and self-awareness. In 2021, I founded Just A Queen With Goals Empowering Women, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women and youth through programs that provide mental health awareness, financial literacy, trauma healing, and leadership development. Starting with a vision and a passion for change, I worked to build partnerships, secure funding, and create safe spaces for people to grow and heal.
The journey hasn’t been easy—balancing personal responsibilities, financial challenges, and systemic barriers—but I refused to give up. In 2024, my organization received multiple community impact awards, recognizing the work we’ve done to uplift and empower those in need.
Today, Just A Queen With Goals Empowering Women continues to expand, offering mentorship, education, and support to hundreds of families. My story is one of persistence, faith, and purpose, and I am committed to ensuring that my work continues to inspire and uplift the next generation.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I started Just A Queen With Goals Empowering Women, I had a clear vision but limited resources. Building a nonprofit from the ground up while balancing personal responsibilities, including raising my children, was a major challenge. Financial constraints often made it difficult to secure funding for programs, and at times, I had to invest my own resources to keep initiatives going.
Another struggle was overcoming systemic barriers and gaining credibility in leadership spaces. As an African American woman leading a nonprofit, I often had to work twice as hard to prove the value of my organization and secure partnerships. There were times when I faced rejection, doubt, and roadblocks that made me question whether I was on the right path.
Despite these obstacles, I remained resilient. I leaned on my faith, sought mentorship, and continuously adapted to new challenges. Over time, I built strong partnerships, expanded my programs, and earned community impact awards that reinforced the significance of my work.
The road has been anything but easy, but every challenge has strengthened my commitment to empowering underserved communities. My struggles have fueled my passion, and today, Just A Queen With Goals Empowering Women continues to grow, making a lasting impact on women, youth, and families in need.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the Founder and Executive Director of Just A Queen With Goals Empowering Women, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering underserved women and youth through mental health awareness, trauma healing, financial literacy, leadership development, and youth empowerment. Our mission is to create safe spaces where individuals can grow, heal, and gain the tools they need to build a better future.
We specialize in holistic empowerment, going beyond just offering resources—we focus on mindset transformation, accountability, and long-term success. Our programs help individuals break cycles of financial hardship, overcome trauma, and build confidence in their personal and professional lives. What sets us apart is our commitment to addressing both the practical and emotional barriers that hold people back.
I am most proud of the impact we have made in the community. Since launching in 2021, we have provided hundreds of families with life-changing support, from financial literacy workshops to youth mentorship programs. In 2024, we received community impact awards recognizing our efforts, proving that our work is making a difference.
At Just A Queen With Goals Empowering Women, we believe that self-awareness, accountability, and consistency are the keys to success. Our goal is to help women and youth rise above their circumstances, build resilience, and create the future they deserve. We are continuously growing, expanding our programs, and looking for new ways to uplift and empower our community.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I believe that risk-taking is essential for growth—both personally and professionally. Stepping outside of your comfort zone is where real transformation happens. While taking risks can be intimidating, I see it as a necessary part of making an impact, achieving success, and breaking generational cycles.
One of the biggest risks I took was founding Just A Queen With Goals Empowering Women in 2021. At the time, I didn’t have a roadmap, unlimited resources, or guarantees that it would succeed. What I did have was a vision, a passion for helping others, and the determination to create change. Starting a nonprofit meant taking financial risks, dedicating countless hours without knowing if I would secure funding, and stepping into leadership in a space where I had to prove myself and my mission. It was a leap of faith, but one that has led to life-changing programs, community impact awards, and an organization that serves hundreds of families today.
I also took a risk by sharing my personal story and struggles openly. As a leader, vulnerability can feel like a risk, but I’ve learned that authenticity builds trust and connection. By being open about my journey, I’ve empowered others to do the same, creating a community where healing and growth can happen.
To me, risk-taking isn’t about recklessness—it’s about trusting yourself, believing in your mission, and pushing past fear to create something meaningful. Every risk I’ve taken has led to new opportunities, greater impact, and a deeper sense of purpose.
