Conversations with Niquee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Niquee.

Hi Niquee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started doing makeup as a 15 year old homeless teenager in Grand Rapids,MI. I was too young to work enough hours at a job while being in school, so I decided to teach myself a skill. At this time YouTube was my best friend. I began to practice on myself, and discovered this was actually a talent. I’ve always been creative far as painting and drawing, but I discovered a new canvas. I went on to teach my first makeup class of 60 plus women, and from there I took off. I opened my first beauty bar by the age of 20. After now doing makeup for 5 years I decided I wanted to offer more services, so I tried photography and fell in love with the craft. I felt like it was a perfect package deal, and plus I got to paint a canvas and capture it immediately after. By 23 I was opening my second location which I had now added on a boutique to sell women clothes, and accessories,

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was not a smooth road, but my faith kept me in the tough times. Here I was a young ambitious entrepreneur with little to no guidance, My biggest struggles was hiring employees/ keeping them, and managing my business funds properly.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a makeup artist and photographer, I specialize in portrait photography. I am most proud of offering quality services with the best customer service. I’m really big on customer service, making my clients feel comfortable and beautiful.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
With the rise of AI technology, I definitely could see a change in the market. People feeling there’s no need for photographers. Far as makeup I always feel there will be a market for that. Weddings, special events etc. It’s all about creating a special experience, to keep you demand.
