Today we’d like to introduce you to Professor Skoola.

Professor Skoola

Hi Professor, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well I’ve been a vintage clothing collector for years and in 2017 I heard about The DFW Vintage Swap, which is a buy sell swap vintage clothing convention, after attending a few of those and becoming good friends with the founder of the event, I quickly became the face and host of the convention, combining my passion for 90s vintage/sneakers, my unique style and my personality, it was only natural for me to share it with the world and become a content creator. I started doing content in 2022 and have became one of biggest creators/influencers on social media. I also host other sneakers conventions here in Dallas and have been on numerous podcasts and platforms sharing my passion and style with the world.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing you have to work for will be all peaches and cream. There’s always obstacles on the road to success, but that’s what makes the rewards that much sweeter when you over all the pitfalls you encounter on the journey. Negative comments, doubting yourself, not seeing the results you want to see, are some of the things I deal with on a daily almost, but you have to believe in yourself and what you’re doing, and simply put… you just got to keep going.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So I do a couple of things lol, I do content, specifically 90s culture, whether it be about sneakers from the 90s, clothing from the 90s or just growing up in the 90s/00s. With that comes being an influencer, which has turned into me doing my own brand called “Leaders Of Retro”. I have a podcast called “Kickin It With Skoola” on Instagram, I’m a brand ambassador, I host a number of events, pop ups and conventions, and I’ve recently added “stylist” to my resume lol, in which I’ve been consulting individuals on vintage clothing and curating vintage clothing/sneakers/jewelry as well. I’m known for being a one of a kind individual, whether it be my style, my content or my personality. I have fun with everything I do and people can tell it’s all authentic. I love being a part of something positive, something that helps individuals and gives entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their skills and chase their dreams, we all inspire each other to keep going.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I know all about taking risks, it’s not an easy thing to do, taking a leap of faith on something you believe in can be terrifying. I changed my whole lifestyle from a guy in the streets to doing content and showing myself and my family and friends that I can be more and let my true self shine through. Trading in the street life for a content creator life has definitely been a big change, financially, personally and everything in between, but it’s been a good change and it’s something that I believe will lead to better things in the future.
