Conversations with Rane Tomlinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rane Tomlinson.

Hi Rane, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Manhattan, New York and divorced in 1998. We had four children, 2 boys and two girls. My precious children and granddaughters are doing great, praise God. Three are married and the youngest is not married.

I started writing books in High School, in Youngstown, Ohio. One of my High School friends Valerie and I would write short stories about interesting people when we were bored. Writing became my hobby.

In 1991, I began writing short children’s stories for my children. As they grew older, they encouraged me to write books. I took their advice and began to write different types of books, words that would make men and women alike to laugh, books that would be fun, and for those who naturally enjoyed reading. I wanted these novels to have a purpose, to show kindness, integrity, and though fiction, would still give ideas of how women and men could deal prayerfully with challenging life situations. This is how I came to write Christian Romance.

My first novel, The Danger of Hungry Arms, was fun writing. I was working as a Security Officer in the jail system in Charlotte, NC at the time.

The book is about a missionary woman who spent her life serving others by doing missions work around the United States. When she did not have an assignment, she would work and save the money to prepare for traveling to her next assignment, her pastor would direct her to families in need. The main character, Leah, eventually ended up in a very different assignment. It was difficult because this family had money and the missionary had never dealt with wealth. This novel’s challenging mother and a businessman for a son, kept Leah on her toes.

The second book, Quiet Warrior, is about an American Indian man who raised his younger brother. Poverty had been his identity and he did not believe in himself, except to honor his parents and help his younger brother by working to pay for his schooling and the University. This man’s life took a riveting turn as his brother, now a graduate and in his own life, encouraged his older brother to shake himself, put in different applications and do something different. After a long time, this Indian man began to see that he had much more than the empty person of little value, with no direction. The winds of God were blowing, stirring this main character to life. With his younger brother’s encouragement he took the leap and the doors swung opened, proving that this God who he diligently prayed to, could change any life.

The third book is dedicated to a family who actually took me in as a part of their family, when I was eighteen and living at the YWCA, in Youngstown, Ohio.

The novel itself is about an orphan, her life, her challenges and how she pulled herself up, walked in integrity and high morals. The main character began to realize her talent and ran with it. This novel has an interesting twist because this young woman’s gift took off in ways that she had never dreamed. The fear of her past caused her hide this talent to the point that no one knew who she really was. This fun novel’s twists and turns will encourage readers and bring surprising laughter in many ways.

My fourth book is a short book on prayer and will soon be released this spring, 2026. I invite you to look for it on Amazon Books.
This fall, 2026, a fifth book, another Christian Romance will be available for readers,

The Books are available on Amazon, Rane Tomlinson

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
OBSTACLES / CHALLENGES

Writing has not always been easy. I am a minister/missionary, and I write Fiction-Christian Romance. I have found these novels to be tools that opens doors for interesting conversations that change lives. Men and women who would enjoy a relaxing evening of clean laughter, I hope that you will enjoy the adventures in my books.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What do I do now?
At a Bible Institute, Christ For The Nations, in Dallas, Texas, I am the Prayer Coordinator. This is a great honor to represent this Bible Institute that has trained men and women for ministry, and becoming leaders in their communities and countries for over seventy years. The institute President is the grandson of the founder, Gordon Lindsay. President Golan Lindsay allows me to represent CFNI prayer in several ways, missions worldwide, by emails, visiting guests, mentoring students and encouraging parents. I also teach two classes at the Bible Institute.

I am mostly known for prayer and praying with students. My duties at CFNI allow me to mentor students from all around the world. Often, CFNI, has up to 40 or more countries represented at the Bible Institute. This is so rewarding to take prayer to many countries traveling with teams and alone, to Brazil, Peru, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan, this past December, to the people in India.

The only thing that I could possibly be proud of is that the Lord Jesus allows me to be used for His glory.

What sets me apart?
Every human has been given gifts from God. We can choose to use these gifts to promote kindness, encouragement and truth. I choose by the grace of God, to promote these qualities, walking away having left peace in my wake.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Robyn Gool, a mentor and pastor in Charlotte, NC

Bishop Tom Brown and his wife Sonya in El Paso.

Christ For The Nations leaders: Dr. Dennis and Ginger Lindsay, President Golan and Krissia, Dr. Hollar, Dr. Seif and many of the staff have been supporters, cheerleaders, and encouragers along the way. This place, quietly changed my life and even the trajectory of my destiny. They trusted me in ways that I had not experienced before. I have been challenged beyond my capacity, grown in confidence and openness, learned and am still learning the ways of God’s heart,
