Hi Raven-Janay , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It all started at a call center. I had reached the top of my department, and while I was grateful for the success, something inside of me was craving more — more purpose, more impact, more room to grow. I remember sitting at my desk one day and just thinking, This can’t be it for me. I wanted to teach, to pour into people, to help others become the best version of themselves. But the environment I was in didn’t allow me to evolve — they wanted me to stay exactly where I was.
So, in between calls, I pulled out my journal and started writing. I listed my strengths and weaknesses. I narrowed my interests down to either becoming a receptionist or pursuing cosmetology. I talked to my husband about how I was feeling — I told him I was ready to make a change, to walk away and chase something new. He lovingly encouraged me to wait. But deep down, I felt this pull from God, telling me, Jump now. Move in faith.
So I chose cosmetology. I took a tour at a school called Ogle, where they introduced me to esthetics — something I hadn’t even considered. I went home, did my research, and realized that esthetics was exactly where I was meant to be. I shifted directions, found a school that offered it, and landed at Aveda. The moment I walked in for my tour, I knew: this is it.
I gave it my all. In just six months, I graduated valedictorian and landed a job from a career fair held at the same school. Every step felt divinely aligned — one door after another opening, all because I listened to that inner voice and took a leap of faith.
Now, I’m a proud spa owner. I serve all people — anyone looking to feel refreshed, cared for, and confident. What started with a journal entry and a big dream has turned into Vivid Studios: a space built on intention, transformation, and care.
I’m still growing. I’m still learning. And every single client who walks through my doors reminds me why I said yes to this journey in the first place.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges I faced was dealing with unbelief — not just from others, but sometimes even from myself. When people around you don’t fully believe in your vision, it can start to cloud your judgment. It made me second-guess decisions or question if I was really built for this.
But I kept moving. Even when the support wasn’t there or the validation didn’t come, I took the next step. And over time, the results began to speak for themselves. The more I tuned out the noise and locked in on what God was telling me, the more clarity and confidence I gained.
What I’ve come to understand is this: it’s not for everyone else to believe in your dream. It’s for you to believe. That shift in mindset changed everything for me.
No, it hasn’t been easy — but with every challenge, I’ve grown. As I’ve matured, learned to love myself, and become more grounded in who I am, the road has started to feel smoother. Not because the obstacles disappeared, but because I no longer let them shake me. Now, when challenges come, I rise to meet them. I don’t see them as setbacks — I see them as opportunities to keep becoming who I’m meant to be.

To me, success isn’t just about money, titles, or how many people know your name. It’s about alignment. It’s waking up every day and doing what you love, serving with purpose, and seeing the lives you touch along the way.
Success is when my clients walk out of my studio feeling more confident, refreshed, and empowered than when they came in. It’s when someone tells me I inspired them to chase their own dream. It’s knowing that I’m walking in what God created me to do — and doing it with excellence, integrity, and love.
It’s also personal. Success looks like growth — spiritual, emotional, and professional. It looks like learning from mistakes instead of being defeated by them. It’s the quiet moments where I can look at how far I’ve come and say, I’m proud of myself.
At the end of the day, success is peace. Peace with who I am, where I’m headed, and who I’m becoming along the way.
