Conversations with Rebecca Barlow

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Barlow.

Hi Rebecca, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi guys! I’m Rebecca. I’m a 27-year-old wife and mother to a beautiful baby boy.

I have always had so much fun behind the camera rather it be for my friends, family, or a stranger asking me to take their photo so everyone could be in it.

My real why I would have to say is in 2012 I lost my mother due to breast cancer. This is truly what sparked my interest for photography much later in life. Not having many photos of her to reminisce on really changed my view on what capturing the moment was. If someone would have told me years ago that all I would have left of my mother were photos I would’ve taken a million more.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think any road worth traveling is ever smooth but it’s been fun and a learning experience. My biggest struggle has been having confidence in myself and not comparing myself to every other photographer out there.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a lifestyle photographer based in North Dallas and I specialize in portrait photography. Rather that be for families, couples, seniors, individual branding and so much more. I focus a lot on storytelling. I find that being able to exercise my creativity has grounded me in the industry. Finding the unique love between a couple or that spunky personality in a senior each time is what makes me so proud. What sets me apart from other photographers is that I spend time crafting each and every one of my clients vision for their shoots. I truly want the very best to come out of your shoot and experience with me. I treat you like family and build endless friendships because who would you rather capture a sweet authentic moment, a stranger or a friend?

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that I create my art and it takes time to perfect it. Being kind and patient with myself through this journey is a must!
