Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Dunivan.
Hi Robin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Good Company Coffee Creates a Community Hub Amid a Culture of Screens and Solitude
In a time when daily life is increasingly dominated by screens, isolation, and remote work, Good Company Coffee was founded with a simple but powerful mission: to restore genuine human connection.
“I was working from home and rarely getting out,” says the founder of Good Company Coffee. “There weren’t any places near my home where I could drop in to work or meet someone. I realized I wasn’t the only one longing for a place that felt welcoming, peaceful, and authentic.”
That desire became the spark for Good Company Coffee—an inviting, community-driven space designed to serve as the heart and soul of its neighborhood. The café offers a calm, comfortable environment with seating options for every need—from quiet solo work to relaxed gatherings with friends.
Beyond atmosphere, Good Company Coffee sets itself apart with a commitment to quality. The shop proudly serves Onyx Coffee Lab as its roaster and uses small-batch, farm-to-table syrups, creating a cup that avoids the burnt or overly sweet flavors often found elsewhere.
Since opening just 20 months ago, Good Company Coffee continues to draw new faces—50% of visitors are first-time customers—yet the brand consistently resonates with those seeking a place that feels genuine and grounded.
Good Company Coffee stands as a reminder that people still crave connection, conversation, and community—and sometimes, it all starts with a really good cup of coffee.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Despite the challenges that come with launching a new business, the experience has been overwhelmingly positive for the founder of Good Company Coffee. With a professional background spanning human resources, operations leadership, and service as a chief administrative officer, she found that the skills developed over decades have uniquely equipped her to run her own company.
“I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable it’s been to operate this business,” she says. “Yes, we’ve had a few bumps, but overall the journey has been incredibly rewarding.”
Her leadership experience, combined with a passion for creating meaningful spaces, continues to guide the café’s growth and its commitment to community.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
A passion for developing talent is also at the heart of Good Company Coffee’s culture. With a background in human resources and team development, the founder excels at building strong, supportive teams and helping individuals reach their potential. Owning the café has created an opportunity to bring those strengths directly to her staff.
“We employ only part-time team members, many of whom are finishing their education or preparing to step into full-time roles,” she explains. “It’s incredibly fulfilling to help them grow, build confidence, and gain the experience they need for the next step in their journey.”
This commitment to people—employees and customers alike—continues to shape Good Company Coffee’s identity as a place rooted in connection, community, and genuine care.
What are your plans for the future?
While Good Company Coffee continues to grow, the focus remains on strengthening the brand and deepening its impact within the community. There are no major changes on the horizon—just a commitment to making the café an inviting, meaningful place for the neighborhood it serves. Additional locations may be possible in the future, but for now the priority is cultivating what already makes Good Company special.
Creativity shows up in seasonal specialty drinks and in the ways the team welcomes neighbors into the space. The café recently hosted an after-hours private event—an engagement celebration that created a warm, intimate atmosphere for guests. “It was a magical evening for everyone,” the founder shared.
