Today we’d like to introduce you to Roger Dennis.
Hi Roger, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have spent most of my life helping folks. It was instilled in me at a young age to help those in need or in trouble. It was the right thing to do. In 1985 I found my calling to serve Jesus Christ. there it led me help different communities in different parts of the world. In 2020, we had to close down our church due to the pandemic. A friend of mine, Rochel Owens, told me about going on the radio to get out the message of hope all around the world. She introduced me to Sylvia “Sammi G” St. John-Martinez of Fishbowl Radio Network. Sammi G helped us get started with a 1-hour spot taught us how to be successful in radio broadcasting. We started Glory Rising Radio as a non-profit organization to being light, hope and love to all who will listen. Being on the radio brought me in contact with other broadcasters and opened doors to help the community through different organization to feed the hungry, get tent and blanket for the homeless, and to help children have a blessed Christmas to name a few. We have been with Fishbowl Radio Network for over 5 years now. We have a 2-hour program every Friday and are reaching 71 countries with a listening audience of 221,991 a month (as of Aug 2025). Our goal for 2026 is to start a 24 hr. internet radio station targeting our local communities.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No. There were a lot of “trial and error” in the process. Since we had no knowledge of the radio broadcasting world, we had to rely on the expert advice of “Sammi G”. She has been in the radio business for many years. I would say the biggest struggle we had was putting up with the “nay sayers,” we had more friends telling us we were wrong for doing this, “you’re wasting your money”, “you need to be in a church building”, and hardest one of all was “This isn’t God’s will for you,” If it wasn’t for my wife, Loretta and Andre & Cindy Russell standing with me, I probably would have given up.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a learner. I want to know more about things. From a young age, I was always curios about thing. how they work, why they do what they do? I went to school to be a draftsman. I could see how and draw the details of the object. then I went into the military. I was always trying to learn more. I was then placed in a training position where I researched and developed training programs. Then went to work as a locksmith. Another job I knew nothing about. within a year, I was working on everything from safes, commercial and residential locks, as well as automotive,
I am most proud of the fact I can share what I have learned to educate or expand others knowledge and understanding.
What makes you happy?
To see that I made a difference in someone’s life. That something I said or done has helped other to have a better life. To hear my children or others come back and thank me for all that I imparted to them. Priceless!
