Conversations with Sam Saji

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Saji.

Hi Sam, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started cooking and experimenting with food during the pandemic when I was blessed with abundant time. Slowly I was encouraged by my community and friends to make something out of it. I started the Sam’s Soul Instagram page in early 2022, it has been a fun journey of producing food and travel-related content. Last fall I finally decided to start doing private dinners. this part of the journey was a difficult transition as it went from making food that looked good for content to food that had to be amazing as it was now a service that I had to provide. Nonetheless, it has been a blessed experience. we ended the year off by selling merch where all proceeds went to charity, together we raised a thousand dollars and donated it to Food for the Soul, where our donations contributed to over 8 million meals and snacks for children coming from food-insecure households in the DFW area.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For me personally, it has been an encouraging time, at first, I was obsessed with statistics related to my content, but slowly I had to re-prioritize my intentions. My goal is to have a strong following/community in the Dallas area, and together this community can make an impact in the DFW Area.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in making food that not only looks good but tastes good too, specifically south Indian food. I feel that south Indian cuisine is one that is not highlighted as much, and I want to change the narrative on that. what sets me apart is the fact that I have the knowledge of traditional Indian food but also the creativity to elevate these dishes so more people are open to trying new things.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I feel that everyone needs a great supporting cast that can lead you to success, using this mentality I surrounded myself with a team that keeps me accountable and encourages me to try and do better.
