Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Duffy.
Hi Sharon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I have had several careers. I think each one fit the stage of life I was in. Right out of college up until the time I had children, I was a pharmaceutical sales representative, and then was blessed to be a stay at home mom when my children were young. I became a teacher when my children reached school age and taught high school Physics and Chemistry. When I became an empty nester, I was very fortunate to be given the opportunity to start McKinney and Prosper Lifestyle with an amazing company, Lifestyle Publications.
Out of all my accomplishments, I am most proud of raising three successful sons and the productive members of society that they have become. My oldest graduated with a bachelors and masters from SMU and is in Army Special Forces. My second son played D1 football at Rice University and graduated with a material science degree. And my youngest graduated from the McCombs business school at UT Austin. I am truly blessed!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I connect local businesses to our community and tell their story in our publication. It is all about relationships!
Nonprofits in our community are also very important to me and we have several! It is my goal to feature at least one non profit in our magazine each month.
McKinney and Prosper Lifestyle is a community-focused magazine that aims to connect the residents to the people, places and things that make our city special. We are inspired by the unique atmosphere our city has, and we highlight the most positive aspects of living here.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Try and find something that you are passionate about and gives you purpose! Then do not give up, be consistent in your efforts, and have activity every day!
