Conversations with Solara

Today we’d like to introduce you to Solara.

Hi Solara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out singing in kids choir actually. It was so funny because I was always so nervous it was insane. I had started getting into it seriously in my freshman year of high school, where I was in an unnamed band with some upper class men. Funny enough I started in jazz, so seeing myself as a house music artist and not where I thought I would be is kind of crazy! I e used to sit at my computer and make drafts of my singing until one day I made one that was decent enough to catch the attention of some very notable people. It’s only went uphill from there!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well, it’s a struggle for me personally because I never intended on taking my music seriously, so I never treated it that way until recently. That’s come back to bite me because it’s so easy to be caught up in the real world that it makes you forget that music full time could be my reality if I just tried hard enough.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in vocals, specifically in house music but I have a love for RnB and soul, and sometimes you’ll be able to see that in some of my songs. I’m very proud of my growth but I think that’s what makes me different. I don’t think being better at singing made me grow at all. It was time. Even so I still think about ways to grow through time. It’s a long road ahead of me. I still have yet to have an undeniable “trademark.”

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
You might not know that I’m actually genderfluid. I speak for all of the people out there that can present themselves however they see fit; whether that be masculine, feminine, or anything in between.
