Conversations with Something 4 Da People Podcast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Something 4 Da People Podcast.

Alright, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The origin of our podcast began with a conversation one day on how we (Bryant “B-Hunt” Hunter & Jeremy “Big Country” Hicks) could help others when it comes to their relationships. We felt that people weren’t giving an accurate depiction of themselves and wanted to convey an accurate view of both sides. We wanted to give the real, raw, and uncut version of how relationships work. The perspectives of both men and women and the health of our overall community became a priority of ours. We felt that if there is a better understanding of each other’s perspectives and life experiences, we could begin to change some of the stereotypes that have been placed on us throughout the years. The goal is to help people navigate through this thing called life, and with information and understanding, we could help our community. Our actual first episode was shot in 2008, and due to circumstances and life taking us in different directions, we shelved the idea. We felt a connection and passion for our show, so we came back to the table, and here we are today. We are about 67 episodes in, and we have not looked back. It has been fun and enlightening for us as we go along this journey with our people.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the struggles that have come about is having a podcast that has people exposing and expressing their inner thoughts. Our style has our guest expose their true inner thoughts, and it’s difficult to present a recorded conversation as a safe space, but when people see the show, they will understand that it is not about pointing the finger. It’s about coming to a common ground.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We sit down with people to have honest and real conversations about our community, our relationships, and how to build and uplift each other. We specialize in honesty from the point of view of happily married men. I believe that our proudest moments are being able to speak with anyone clearly and without controversy. Empathizing and sympathizing with our guests to understand where they are coming from but also be able to vocalize where we are coming from. What sets us apart from a lot of other podcasts is that we are not trying to be right and that we are shedding light on the perspectives of all. We are all trying to get this thing called life right, so why not help each other navigate?

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson that we’ve learned is if you do not communicate in any type of relationship, it is doomed to fail. Communication, real communication is key to any healthy relationship. Our ability to work together as a team without ego and communicate with each other has taken us to another level and given us the ability to work cohesively. Our communication is something that we pride ourselves on because we all know that things can go wrong with mishaps and misunderstandings. Some of those things are rooted in a lack of communication. The key to communication is coming to an understanding and hearing all sides. We work together as a unit.
