Conversations with Steven Turek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Turek.

Hi Steven, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well Hello there thank you for this amazing opportunity to showcase my talents and highlight my business.

So my photography dream took flight once I received my first DSLR camera the Nikon D90 back in 2008 ,my main passion was portrait photography and the fashion industry.
Even had the amazing privilege of being published multiple times and to work with local models as chief photographer for vision magazine Ran by Baily Roberts.
Later on in my career I transitioned into more videography work since the demand for it has increased over the past few years and shifted into the automotive content creation space working with automotive brand businesses Koch-kemi, Ceramic-Pro, The Refinery Detail Supply House ,Flips Mobile Detailing, AWD Tuning , Cobb Tuning to name a few.
The amazing Folks over at The Refinery Erin and her Husband Jon have hired me on multiple occasions to film and take photos for the business and also introduce me to leading brands in the automotive industry.

I myself was a automotive detailer for 21 years and always wanted to be able to combine both passion’s together, At my last place of employment before I decided to go full freelance i noticed they were hiring media agencies to create content for there vehicles they offer to sell, and that was when I decided i can actually purse this as a passion and a career.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well as most people say to be successful or to achieve your dream job or career there’s always going to be roadblocks and obstacle’s to over come.
That Being said my journey has definitely been very tough, so as artist or creative person you see your potential and the scale and caliber of your work but trying to convince others to invest into that is a slippery slope.
Over this past year I’ve had to deal with a lot of gate keeping in the industry people that are worried that they or other people they use for similar services will be out shined and will not hire you or offer your services to other business owners.

As I mentioned in the opening the amazing family owned business The Refinery Detail supply House has always had Faith in my creative eye to highlight and help promote there business and recap of events through my photography and Videography services i owe a huge amount of my career success to them.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So I’m really a Swiss army knife when it comes to creating memories and content, I’ve dabbled in a lot of different genres in the photography world through my career, Portraits, Weddings, Family Photos , Maternity , Ecommerce , Events, Live Music, Automotive, Fashion.
Video productions include Automotive, Event Recaps, Local Nonprofit Events, BTS from a Model / Fashion Shoot, Social Media content.

So to narrow it down to just one can be a challenge lol , Id say of recent time I’ve been specializing in Automotive content 4k cinematic footage from unique private shoots with stunning cars to recaps from cars and coffee events, to car shows with amazing vehicles.

What I’m most proud of would have to be my commitment to staying true to my brand and to hustling, I dedicated a year to make a name form myself in the DFW Automotive Community I wanted to be able to work with large name brands in the Aftermarket/ Detail Automotive community and was very successful in that regard I’ve worked with Cobb Tuning, Koch Chemie, Ceramic Pro, And my Favorite local business to work with the good Folks over at The Refinery Detail Supply House without there incredible friendship a lot of these opportunities would never have come to light.

What sets me apart from others, My work has a very unique look to it almost has a Hollywood movie look to both the images and the video’s its a nice change in a very over saturated market especially for an online presences.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was always exploring around the House in the neighborhood or at the local park, There was always a camera in my hand making goofy videos with my brother taking random photos of everything and anything around me, I was always being a creative kid, fun outgoing personality was also always interested in cars my father always had all kinds of unique cool cars which explains my current occupation now.
