Today we’d like to introduce you to Summer Lane Rushing (Emerson).
Hi Summer Lane, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Summer Lane Rushing (Emerson) grew up in East TX out of Edgewood TX and the famous Van Zandt County.
Although she grew up with an estranged and harmful childhood on her biological father’s side, S. Lane was given a foundation of love and understanding on her Mother’s side, noting that her Mother, Older Brother, Cousin Hannah, Granny, and PawPaw played very fundamental roles in the positive lights of her childhood memories. – With mention of her Aunt and Uncle aiding in her journey along the way by helping her escape from her paternal side of the family and providing Sanctuary during one of the darkest of times in her life.
Around age 15, S. Lane “ditched” her maiden name and claimed her Mother and Olders Brothers last name “Emerson” as to show pride in her Maternal familys side. Thus, also aiming to avoid known conflicts in a small town community that would root her back to the past actions of members on her biological but not claimed Paternal Family side. – Still Noting that her Younger sister from her paternal side, Despite other family member conflicts, has stayed close to her heart and at her side throughout the years to present day.
S. Lane began playing music at local open mic nights at age 15 throughout the DFW metroplex. Summers musical passion rose with the Support of her Mother, Older Brother, and close friends and employers throughout DFW.
In 2018 S. Lane moved to FortWorth to be closer to her older brother Vincent Neil Emerson and from there was introduced to the amazing art scene in Ft. Worth, TX. – Summer Lane calls “Funky Town’s” southside community home to this day.
S. Lane began her career in the music industry playing for crowds all across DFW- deep East TX since 2018 to present day. Whether its playing to the “Hippies” at Burns, Hitting the studios for backup vocals, or playing at your favorite venues, S. Lane is always “along for the ride and just happy to be there.”
S. Lane has been nominated multiple times by The Fortworth Weekly Music Awards and recognized throughout different Articles, Radio, and Television programs from Dallas, TX to Longview, TX setting the goal to shake the souls around her with a memorable experience for any artistic appearance she makes.
In Present day, S. Lane can be seen in a multitude of Westerns being casted as an Acting Extra or Outrider for various shows and events, noting her desire to take deeper aim in her professions in the Acting and Equine communitys.
Summer Lane is a mother to 3 children and a wife to a very loving husband. Making note that her album and top single “Jaybird” released in 2021 and produced by Taylor Tatsch out of Fredericksburg, TX was named for her husband, Trenton Jay Rushing, her only “Jaybird”.
S. Lane mentions that growth, passion, and commitment with her husband leads her family to chase distant dreams that somehow become feasible through her husband’s unwavering outlook and support in their life. S. Lane notes, “Id fall in love with him over and over again..everday..in every lifetime. ” – mentioning that she holds pride in the views that her children take from their outlooks on life, as they themselves hold deep and compassionate values in the love for nature, horses, music, and good deeds towards their community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
S. Lane has dealt with her own fair share of trials and obstacles. In return, using her previous accounts on life to advocate for Suicide Awareness, prevention of Human Trafficking and domestic violence, alongside child protection efforts. – In present day, S. Lane is highly active in the Animal Welfare communities and offers specialty Equine Training for films/Productions/and Private Ranch Facilities.

Many of S. Lanes original songs are written with a basis of prior life events, adding a somber and theatrical view to many of Summers sets. – S. Lane is best known for lyrical depth, comedic stage presense and extensive vocal range.
S. Lane lays her art across the board in Film, Productions, and Media platforms.
Alongside her music S. Lane is known to provide Specialty Equine Training and Riding Instruction to a multitude of Actors, Musicians, Politicians, and private facilities in need of Summers focus on Behavioral Management, Stunt Riding/Training, aswell as Western and Bareback Riding lessons.
S. Lane is most known in the Equine world for her use of Psychological and Anatomical based training methods, striving for a humane, clear, and slow approach in every situation.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
S. Lane most enjoyed spending the Summers in East Texas at her “PawPaws” (Maternal Grandpas) land where she spent her time rehabilitating, training, and riding her rescue horses with her best friend Jami. – Summer and Jami spent countless summertimes in an Old RV rewatching Saving Private Ryan nightly while enjoying Vanilla ice cream and the occasional Coors Lights that PawPaw left stocked in the RV fridge.
