Today we’d like to introduce you to Tangie Logan.
Hi Tangie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I currently hold a Master’s in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Biology. While in college, I worked as a pharmacy technician, which first sparked my interest in health and wellness. After graduating, I began teaching 7th-grade Science and spent over 15 years in public education, serving as both a teacher and, eventually, an assistant principal.
Though education became my profession, my passion has always been rooted in entrepreneurship and the world of health and wellness. I vividly remember saying during my undergraduate years that I would one day become a pharmacist and own my own pharmacy. While that exact path didn’t unfold, I truly believe that God and the Universe have a way of aligning things just as they’re meant to be.
I’ve always dreamed of owning my own business—but early on, I believed I needed a team to make that dream real. I’d say things like, “Let’s start a business,” and while I’d get some “yeses” and a lot of “nos,” nothing ever stuck. I firmly believe that our thoughts shape our reality. By consistently focusing on our desires, we align ourselves with the energy needed to bring them to fruition.
The path to opening DreamWork Wellness Center started in the most ordinary, yet meaningful way—on the living room couch, binge-watching TV with my husband. He casually mentioned, “I’d love to open a clinic to treat people’s pain and depression,” and without missing a beat, I said, “Go for it.”
That very night, we began sketching out our business plan. When the clinic officially opened in 2021, I was still fully immersed in my education career. Stepping away from public education was incredibly difficult—I had built my life and sense of purpose around serving students and teachers, and education felt like my retirement plan. So, I couldn’t give it up just yet, but I was still working behind the scenes and on Saturdays at the clinic.
About six months after launching DreamWork Wellness Center, I found myself chatting with my husband after dinner, excitedly telling him about my desire to invest in a HOTWORX. My passion for health and wellness had always guided me—I wanted to invest in something I would enjoy showing up to every day.
HOTWORX had originally entered my life when my sister introduced me to it over six years ago. At the time, I was still teaching, so I didn’t think much of it as an investment. I decided to join a local HOTWORX studio, and the infrared sauna workouts—combining heat, virtual instruction, and movement—captured me immediately. The physical benefits were clear, and I felt mentally refreshed!
.
We continued the conversation about investing in a HOTWORX over the next month or so, and we decided to move forward in 2022! And just like that, HOTWORX became part of our journey. We even coined a corny phrase that still makes me smile: “DreamWork and HOTWORX make the body work”- looking good and feeling good!
I began working on launching HOTWORX while still serving as an Assistant Principal in public education. Balancing both was challenging, especially as I was stepping into the unfamiliar world of franchising while managing a full-time job. There were sleepless nights and many moments of doubt, but through constant prayers and reflection, I reached a point where I knew it was time to close one chapter and begin another. In 2022, I made the difficult decision to resign mid-year from my position as Assistant Principal. The following year, in 2023, I opened HOTWORX Princeton.
Although I was afraid, I knew in my heart that God had a new path laid out for me. Now, I’m living my dream, all while still being of service to others. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about seeing patients leave DreamWork Wellness Center better than they walked in. Similarly, I love witnessing members of HOTWORX Princeton walk out feeling like true warriors. Both DreamWork and HOTWORX are flourishing in their own unique way, and it all started with a dream and a conversation.
I truly believe in the idea of “coming full circle”—our paths intersect at just the right moments. Nothing in life is by accident. Looking back, I might’ve been a bit crazy launching two businesses within such a short timeframe. But sometimes the boldest leaps are the ones that end up defining us.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a Franchisee of a HOTWORX and owning and operating a DreamWork Wellness Center is not an easy task. There have been some bumps in the road, specifically managing time, funding, and the right people.
Time!!!! Long hours became the norm—late nights, full weekends, and precious time away from family. So, it’s not just about the physical effort; emotionally, it’s draining to juggle several roles and responsibilities while trying to keep everything afloat. I have done it all, answered the phone, sold a membership, scheduled a patient, cleaned the restroom, painted the walls, etc….And all the while trying to maintain a work-life balance, while remaining present for my husband and children.
Funding!!!! Despite countless programs aimed at supporting minority- and small-business owners, I found myself ineligible nearly 90% of the time, or at least that was the information I was given. When the doors I thought would open didn’t, I leaned on personal savings to get the doors open. Starting something meaningful meant making hard choices with my own resources.
Trust!!!!! I learned the hard way that not everyone wants to see you succeed or cares if you do or not. So I learned to “rule out the noise”—to discern who genuinely supported the vision and who was holding it back. It’s not about the negativity – it’s about finding the few individuals who genuinely have your best interests at heart.
Yes, being your own boss is rewarding—but painfully real. It requires resilience, grit, and the ability to stand firm when everything feels overwhelming. Help doesn’t always come easy. Even well-intentioned programs may not align with who you are, and building a business may fall on your shoulders—both literally and financially. Trust is not given—it’s earned. And protecting your vision means protecting it from those who don’t share your integrity.
Stay the course and manifest your reality.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
For over 15 years, I thrived in public education as a teacher and administrator. Though I often refer to myself as a “former educator,” that role remains central to who I am: I’ll always be an educator, driven by my passion for helping others learn and grow. I can say my current role is just an extension of my years in education and my passion for health and wellness.
Today, I oversee the day-to-day operations at the HOTWORX Princeton, TX, and DreamWork Wellness Center, conveniently located in Frisco and Sherman, TX. Not every day looks the same, and as a small business owner, I wear many hats. Some of the tasks that I am responsible for include human resources, finances, scheduling, billing, and putting out fires, just to name a few.
Why are we unique?
At HOTWORX Princeton, we are unique because we are a 24-hour fitness studio infused with infrared heat and exercise. You can choose from isometric workouts (like yoga, pilates, barre) or high-intensity interval training (HIIT) sessions (like cycling or rowing). Benefits of a sauna workout include not only weight loss, muscle toning, and flexibility, but it also improves mental clarity, promotes detoxification by increasing sweat production, helps with muscle recovery and joint pain relief, improves skin tone, and may support anti-aging benefits. We are focused on more workouts in less time, with convenience and flexibility.
At DreamWork Wellness Center, we offer comprehensive mental health care tailored to your unique needs. We treat the whole person, not just the illness. Our services include ketamine therapy, medication management, hormone therapy, and counseling to address depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, and other mental health conditions. Healing looks different for everyone—and at our center, we honor that diversity of experience. Each patient comes with a unique story and a unique path forward, and we understand that there’s no one-size-fits-all treatment plan. What matters most is recognizing and celebrating the subtle signs of progress. Often, the first glimpse of change doesn’t come from a test result but from the way someone walks through our door—their hair styled differently, their clothes clean, a genuine smile lighting up their face. We cherish these small wins because they reflect a shift in hope, trust, and self-care.
We want our patients to know they are not their diagnosis, but the author of what comes next.
My background in Science, Education, and Business has shaped how I lead my businesses—with intentionality, empathy, and purpose. Every step in my journey—from biology and teaching to running a fitness studio and wellness center—reflects my unwavering devotion to creating spaces where healing, learning, and integrity flourish.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising about me is that I’m actually an introvert. Most people assume I’m naturally outgoing because of the work I do, but I truly value my alone time. Solitude gives me space to recharge, reflect, and refocus. I’ve learned that being an introvert isn’t a limitation—it’s a strength that allows me to be intentional, grounded, and deeply present in both my personal and professional life.
