Conversations with Teah Brooks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Teah Brooks.

Hi Teah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started baking at an early age watching my grandmother and my granny helping when I could. Baking became a way to ease my anxiety and depression when the weight on my shoulders felt unbearable. In 2019 I had major surgery and I needed a way to cope. Baking became my safe haven and I felt like I wasn’t alone.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a business has been a challenge when it comes to people not knowing you exist, having the money to continue promoting yourself, perfecting your craft, having the money to expand when business starts to take off, or even the background work of owning a business.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a baker that doesn’t specialize in cake. Ironic I know, however I make gourmet cinnamon rolls, cookies, and brownies. I’m proud of myself for not getting into the temptation of making cakes to get more clientele. I cater to those who love a good gooey cinnamon roll.

What matters most to you?
The thing that matters most to me is making a name for myself by not giving up when things get hard. I want my business to show the love and passion I have when baking that draws customers in.
