Conversations with Teja Vesangi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Teja Vesangi

Hi Teja, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey in photography began with a deep passion for capturing landscapes and portraits. I was initially drawn to the beauty of nature and the expressive potential of human faces. This passion led me to experiment with outdoor shoots, often working with friends to refine my skills.

As I developed my skills, I transitioned to photographing small events, which marked a significant shift from personal projects to more formal work. This experience was crucial in honing my technical skills and understanding the dynamics of event photography.

Recognizing the potential to turn my passion into a career, I made a bold move from IT to full-time photography. I began taking on larger events, including weddings and corporate Events and discovered a particular affinity for Indian wedding photography. The rich traditions and emotional depth of these celebrations inspired me to specialize in this vibrant field.

Today, my work blends traditional and modern photography techniques to create compelling and authentic images. I’m grateful for the opportunity to capture significant moments and tell each couple’s unique story through my lens.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the initial struggles was building credibility and a client base. Starting from scratch meant long hours of networking, marketing, and perfecting my craft. There were times when the workload felt overwhelming, and the financial instability of a new business was daunting.

The journey hasn’t always been smooth. Transitioning from a stable IT career to pursuing photography full-time came with its own set of challenges.

Another challenge was learning to balance creativity with the demands of running a business. Managing client expectations, handling logistics for big events, and maintaining consistent quality required a steep learning curve.

Despite these obstacles, each challenge has been a valuable learning experience. They’ve helped me grow not only as a photographer but also as a business owner. Overcoming these hurdles has made the successes even more rewarding, and I’m grateful for the journey that’s brought me to where I am today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in Indian wedding photography, focusing on capturing the rich cultural traditions and vibrant energy of these celebrations. My work blends traditional elements with a modern touch, creating images that are both visually stunning and emotionally deep.

What I’m known for is my ability to tell a compelling story through my photographs. I capture everything from grand, sweeping shots of the venue to intimate, candid moments between couples and their families. My goal is to reflect the true spirit of each celebration while showcasing the beauty and significance of the cultural traditions.

One of the aspects I enjoy most is working on pre-wedding shoots. These sessions allow me to spend quality time with couples before their big day, getting to know their personalities and capturing their unique love story in a relaxed setting. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the joy and connection between them and to create images that are both personal and meaningful.

What sets me apart is my approach to blending traditional and modern photography techniques by using different lighting techniques, I deliver photographs that are not only beautiful but also true emotions and joy to each couple’s story. My focus on capturing both the grand and subtle moments, along with my passion for pre-wedding shoots, helps me create a complete and heartfelt visual narrative.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is the value of adaptability and resilience. In the world of photography, especially with something as dynamic as wedding photography, things don’t always go as planned. Weather changes, unexpected moments, and last-minute adjustments are part of the job.

Adapting to these changes with a positive mindset is crucial. It’s not just about having the technical skills but also about being able to think on your feet and stay calm under pressure. Each challenge is an opportunity to grow and improve, whether it’s refining my approach, experimenting with new techniques, or finding creative solutions in the moment.

Another key lesson is the importance of building genuine connections with clients. Understanding their vision, being empathetic to their needs, and making them feel comfortable in front of the camera allows for more authentic and memorable photographs. It’s these relationships that often lead to the most meaningful and impactful work.

Overall, embracing flexibility and fostering strong client relationships have been instrumental in both my personal and professional growth. They’ve shaped my approach to photography and helped me create images that truly resonate with the people I work with.
