Conversations with Trisha Alex

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trisha Alex.

Hi Trisha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From a young age, I knew I wanted to help people—I just didn’t know how that would take shape. By the time I was ten years old, I found myself drawn to questions of truth, meaning, and relationships. I was fascinated by the unique bond between parents and children, and I wanted to understand what children truly need from their parents—needs that are universal, no matter a family’s background, culture, or circumstance.

Over time, I realized my passion wasn’t just curiosity—it was a calling. That sense of purpose guided me into formal study, leading me to pursue psychology and counseling as a career path.

In 2018, I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling and began working at a practice in North Dallas. Over six years, I had the privilege of walking alongside countless families, guiding them through seasons of healing and growth. Those years shaped me as both a therapist and a person, and deepened my belief in the resilience of children and parents. Eventually, I felt called to take a leap of faith and open Dallas Insight Counseling with the support of my husband—a decision that has been both humbling and deeply rewarding. It has allowed me to combine my passion for therapy with my mission to build stronger families.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like many in this field, my journey through graduate school and licensure had its fair share of long nights, corrections, and “firsts.” Those moments—sometimes humbling, sometimes frustrating—ultimately strengthened my ability to connect authentically with children and parents.

The bigger challenge came when I opened my own practice. Starting a business brought waves of self-doubt and imposter syndrome. At times, I felt like I was learning to swim in the deep end without a life jacket. But through perseverance, faith, and support, I found my footing. What once felt overwhelming became one of the greatest growth opportunities of my life.

Owning a practice continues to push me outside my comfort zone, not only shaping me as a therapist and business owner but also grounding me as a wife, daughter, and woman. It continues to shape me, refine me, and teach me that meaningful growth often comes from the hardest seasons.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Dallas Insight Counseling was created to help children, teens, and parents build resilience and connection through life’s emotional and behavioral challenges. Our practice specializes in play therapy for young children, helping them build confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience through the natural language of play. For teens, we focus on nurturing self-worth, navigating life transitions, and fostering healthy communication.

What sets us apart is our emphasis on the whole family. Healing doesn’t happen in isolation. That’s why I also work with parents—providing guidance for co-parenting challenges, equipping them with tools to connect more deeply with their children, and helping families create consistent, supportive home environments. The result is lasting change that strengthens relationships at every level.

At its heart, Dallas Insight Counseling is about clarity, connection, and growth—helping families heal and thrive together, one step at a time.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Happiness, for me, comes from growth and connection. I find joy in the small steps families take—moments like a child learning to trust again, or a parent finding new confidence in their role. Over time, those small steps add up, transforming into profound, lasting change. Watching those shifts unfold is what brings me both joy and purpose every single day.
